Twins?

Hi, i am 7 weeks pg with 3rd child, i have the most severe morning sickness and my hcg levels are very high. Even the doctor is asking that question as my hubbys brothers are twins and also his cousins. Will be going to have a scan soon. Has anyone been in this situation? Thanks

If your hubby has fraternal twins in his family it has absolultely nothing to do with if you will have twins (he has no way of making you ovulate two eggs if you know what I mean:) - he can pass the twin gene down to his children - ie any daughters you have may be more likely to have twins but it doesn't have anything to do if you will have twins or not. Don't forget though identical twins just happen or so they say - or you may have twins in your family way back that you don't know about? And sometimes they just happen....My great grandmother had 3 sets and I am the first in my family (cousins and all) in almost 100 years to have twins.

Higher HcG levels can be an indication - mine were through the roof! I had worse morning sickness with my singelton than with this pregnancy - but it can also be an indication - how far along are you? Are they going to send you for an ultrasound? What hare your HcG levels like? Mine were something like 290,000 at 5 weeks 2 days and then 330,000 at 5 weeks 4 days - so way high:)

As pp said your husband having twins on his side of the family has no bearing on you falling pregnant with twins. (however in saying that my hubby has twins on his side and i fell pregnant with twins once - just a coincidence i think but who knows)

i have twins my side too. My grandmother had 2 sets (she had 13 children) my DH, both sets are identical. My hcg levels were very close to 410000 at 6 weeks 1 day.

My mum is an identical twin.....my cousin (mum's twin sis's daughter) has twins also....but none for me (phew..lol).

I was very sick with all 4 pregs and each time I was sent in for an early scan just to make see if I was preg with twins....but, nope, I just suffered major 24/7 sickness :(
