hi, i am fairly new to this site. I have nearly 4 yo b/g twins. i am just wanting to ask a question, what do your twins do while you are cooking dinner ie: do they have to entertain themselves or do you lay out certain activities and designate each child for a certain time ie until the buzzer goes, or do they do what they want. If i dont plan activities or talk to them before i busy myself it could be absolute bedlam. they will either fight with each other or just get up to no good pulling all the clothes out of the drawers ect. they are nearly 4 and i believe they should be able to do their own thing for a period of time..some history georgia can do this quite well, but jeremy has a hearing impairment cochlear implant (may 2006) and is use to having someone sit with him and use play therapy to develop his language. i am trying to get hime to play more on his own but it is like he doesnt know what to do with himself-and he has plenty of opportunities/experiences on how to play appropriately

cheers leanne

Hi my twins (both boys) are only 14 months so they are in bed by the time it comes to getting dinner ready, but I was told by a very helpful nurse, to try and get them independant at a young age so I have always had the boys playing by themselves from a young age.

I realise thats been hard for you but maybe now, each day, you could try and get your little boy involved in an activity that you can start with him and then leave him to it. If you keep close by maybe over time he would get used to that being 'his' activity.
