stealing parents with prams car parks :geek::geek::geek: especially when your about to get the park but then a random tradie or someone quickly pulls into the park when you had your indicator on first, then they get out & give you a smart a$$ look & walk off into the shops :banghead: this happens ALL the bloody time to me... how dare they, do they not care at all about babies?
people are so rude!!!!

That has never happened to me. If someone did that to me, I would let the air out of their tyres.

I definitely agree! and i've never even used a parent car park (i do drive kids around - i even have a carseat in my car full time :o:p)
i like to glare at childless people who are using them - i figure a childless person noticing/caring and reacting to their stupidity should hopefully mean they realise they're doing something wrong

Parents with prams parking is a priviledge, not a right.
Legally anyone can park there.
Yep - they're rude I suppose - but in the whole scheme of things - it's quite a minor common thing that many people do.
I get more upset at people parking in disabled spots, or people parking in elderly spots.

I agree WCM- parent parking is a privelege, and I usually just head straight to the 'normal' section of the carpark because I really don't mind walking a few extra dozen metres.
What really gets on my nerve is people stealing car parks off people who have been waiting there with their indicator on. It had never happened to me, but boy, would I be p1ssed if someone ever decided to steal my park- whether it's a parents' park or not!

Lol Jimmysmummy
I have seen people *freak* and loose it when that happens.. Total get out of the car, bang on the other persons car
But I'm in newtown, the streets have cars parked on both sides of the street, what is left to drive on is seriously 15 centimeters wider than the car..
And there are no parks ever.. so people flip and go insane if you mess with their park..
You know what though miss metal, I have never ever seen this mythical pram park thingy?
Only ever seen disabled parks.. :detective:

Thats SO rude!
:banghead:
I've been yelled at by someone for parking in one of these spots. I'd given birth two weeks before and was stuck in a wheelchair (bub was at home with husband). i didn't have a dissability sticker so figured I'd go with the spirit of the new mum rule rather than actually having to have the baby with me. The woman in a slick new 4x4 jumped out of her car to scream at me...and she didn't even have a baby, just a 4 your old in a booster seat.
oh, i should mention that in the situation where someone steals a park a friend told me that lipstick on a windscreen is almost impossible to remove compellty without a very very good scrub. lol.

I'd contact centre management. Nothing quite so embarrassing as hearing "would the person in vehicle regn XYZ132 please move your car, as your car is parked in a parents zone". (I have heard this announcement before in relation to a handicapped zone... person in sports car not displaying permit).

Nup - Centre Managment won't do that - 'cos it's not illegal to park there like it is a disabled zone
Really - it's not worth the energy to get all het up - it's just a park.

The point of the parks is that they are supposed to be wider so it is easier to get children in and out and safer for people to get in and out of the shop with sall children, because they are closer.

:detective: Hmmm.... a mall is private property and I wouldn't that mean management still has the right to refuse you entry or kick you out, even if you're not breaking the law? I wonder if this would extend to "courtesy" parks. If they are extended to parents with prams as a courtesy, then surely they can ask you to move your car if you are parking in there without a pram/baby? Kind of like parents rooms... it's not illegal for people to go in there to eat their lunch, but I'd still expect the management to be able to ask someone to leave if they're not using it for it's designated purpose./

Unless it's a paying carpark - then they can 'cos it's part of the terms and conditions of entry
If it's not a paying car park - the only place you can't park are the legislated disabled parks, clearaway zones, loading zones etc
When we plan commercial developement we allow for X# Parent car parking depending on the demographics of the area and which shops are leased, and what sway certain the shops have with Centre Management - whereas clearaway zones, disabled parking and loading zones are covered by council dictates, govt legislation, planning permits etc.
Sometimes they are wider parks, sometimes they aren't.
At our local centre the parent car parks are outside the MHC, but miles away from the supermarket - which means the mothers have to walk through the entire centre to get to the most popular shops - straight past all the boutiques...:detective:
There is far safer parking outside the closest door to the supermarket, but it's not designated parent parking...:detective:
