View Full Version : How common is it for eye teeth to come through first?

DS has been slightly more grizzly/dribbly this week and I've spotted a couple of reddish lumps on his upper gum, where the eye teeth would be if they were there.

I guess I assumed that, like DD, DS's teeth would generally arrive around 4 months and start with either top or bottom front teeth, so this has surprised me a little, for being a bit earlier and a different set of teeth.

Do you know how common it is for the first teeth cut to be the eye teeth?

dd had her two bottom teeth and then her two eye teeth not long after, a couple of mths later she got the next two bottom and then the middle top two
It was very cute having these 2 little fangs with no middle top, but it was like this more quite a while. The mch nurse and a dental nurse at mothers group both said it is not very common but fine all the same

I would have thought it was quite uncommon as I thought they generally came last. BUT my DD's came in all out of order, she has four molars without having all her front teeth, so I guess anything is possible.

It's called "cross cutting".... my DS did it - he looked like a vampire for ages!

I have a feeling Noah is the same. He has the two bottom middle and now has the line coming where the top left eye tooth is so it appears that one may be coming next... Will look very strange if it does :D

OMG I hadn't considered him looking like a vampire! LOL He has a VERY pronounced widow's peak hairline so would look rather evil, especially when he cries and his face goes all red, cause the hairline really stands out then.

Neither of mine got the standard front tooth first up !

Eye teeth were the first teeth that Boof got ... & he got them together looked so cute !

G got the other ones on the sides first & then an odd side bottom tooth ...

My kids like being different LOL !

My kids all cross-cut their teeth!

My 4 year old got his 2 eye teeth before his front teeth and looked just like a vampire. We even took pics because when he smiled it was just so hilarious!

:yes: same with DD and she is getting her fifth tooth accross the top come through, all over the place!
