I was told my ds could be circumcised up until 6 months old but i rang the dr i got a referral for and he wont do it once bub is over 6 weeks old and another dr said he has to be under 7 weeks old, I was told i now have to wait until he is 6 months old and he has to see a paediatric surgeon so i was wondering does anyone know a dr who will do a 9 or 10 week old baby as i dont want him to be 6 months old when he gets it done.
My bub is 9 weeks and 2 days old (13-7-09)

or just names of dr's in newcastle area who do it so i can ring them, the only dr's i have tried is Dr Noel Docker and Dr Milton Sales
Not many doctor's in Newcastle will perform a circ at all but the people I know who have had their babies done they've all been under 6 weeks - and no I don't know who they went to to get it done.
No idea sorry.
I have seen a doctor that advertises in the Newcastle Herald just under the birth announcements... Dr Kirsh I think his name is?

thanks i will keep looking for a dr and hopefully he wont have to wait until he is 6 months to get done. I should of hurried up and organised it earlier, just had so much going on with Lucas being sick
Eboniesmum.
I had my boy when we were living in Newcastle. I also found it quite hard to find a doctor in the area that would do him when he was less than 6 months.
Dr. Sales was also very expensive. Over $700 I think from memory.
My solution was to fly to Melbourne (I had family there, so it was 2 birds with one stone) and got Circumwise in RIngwood to do it. The procedure was about $400 (don't quote me on that), so it actually worked out cheaper to fly to Melbourne for (all three of us) and get it done there.
I think they also have a clinic in Brisbane and Adelaide? http://www.circumcision.com.au/
I'm sure they will do him when before the 6 month mark. They suggest the earlier the better.
Not sure if that helps you, but it is an idea.

Hi EboniesMum,
Did you end up finding a dr? We're not sure if we're having a girl or boy but would like him to be circumcised. I'm about to start looking for a dr now as I wasn't sure if you had to 'pre-book'. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Many thanks...

Thanks Father
Emily - Nah cant find a dr as Lucas is over the age that they will do it, he now has to wait till he's 6 months old and has to see a paediatric surgeon and have an operation to have it done, not sure if i will put him through that though, will find out whats involved and then make the decision i guess.
If you get in early and get him (that is if it's a him lol) done you will be ok at finding a dr but remember to book him in before 6 weeks old or they wont do it
so dr's that do circumcisions in Newcastle are:
Dr Noel Docker at belmont he will do it up to 6 weeks old
Dr Milton Sales at Newcastle private Hospital he will do it up to 7 weeks old
Dr Thomas Kirsh he likes to do it in the first 8 days or something like that, he is jewish and something to do with jewish custom that on the 8th day after birth is when babies get circumcised. He is in Newcastle somewhere, he advertises in the post, the star and the herald under births section
Most dr's will tell you to ring once the baby is born and then book in but give them a ring anyway. If you google the dr's names you might find some info, i found info on Milton Sales, tells you the cost etc.
Here is the link to milton http://www.brgp.com.au/BRGP/Circumcision,_Dr_Milton_Sales.html
Good luck, if i find any more info i will post it in here

Hi,
Wow thanks so much for all the info. Sorry it's taken me forever to reply, I've been caught up with work and the hospital bag!
I'd be so happy with either a boy or girl but part of me thinks it would be so much easier to have a little girl!!
I'll phone / google them today and look into it.
Thanks so much again EM, and if I find any info that might be useful for you I'll post it up here as well.
:)

Yep its easier with a girl lol
Thanks. If you ring dr Kirsh would you mind asking what his cut off age is, i've tried ringing a couple of times but got no answer and i didnt leave a message lol
Have a good day
I have 6 sons and only 1 is circumcised, because my dh is a muslim we have to wait until my younger boys are older, and we will have to go to sydney for that, but sorry I dont know anyone who does it in newcastle anymore, there used to be a lady doc at the jhh who did my older son, she was scottish, but I am not sure where she is now.
