Just wondering if anyone has some advice....

My DD is 4 weeks old and sleeps in her basinette, I move it around the house...she is usually in the loungeroom during the day and then I take her to our room at night time.

She sleeps beautifully during the day, she sleeps through anything, TV, visitors and outside noise. The problem is our room at night, as soon as I put her down she wakes up and screams. I have tried leaving the TV on in our room thinking she needs some background noise to help her sleep but nothing seems to work. I end up taking her and the basinette to the loungeroom half way throught the night just so I can settle her and get her to sleep.

It's almost instant...as soon as she knows she is in the lounge she drifts off to sleep.

How can I help her sleep in our room, I dont want to have to sleep on the couch every night....

Start by putting the bassinette in your room for sleeps during the day, or when you notice she is asleep take it in there. Then when she wakes leave her a minute or two. Hopefully she will then learn that your room is the sleeepy room and feel safe in there, at the moment she thinks the living room is her sleepy safe place....

Let me know how it goes - just an idea! I hope it helps!

Is there a reason why she canot just sleep in the loungeroom? Perhaps get a baby monitor if it is a little too far from your bedroom.

sharonnscotty - That was my first thought...I will give it a go, thanks.

tiera3 - I dont really want her to sleep in the lounge. Originally I put her to sleep in her nursery which is next door to our room but found I was getting up to every grizzle to settle her. I moved her to the basinette next to our bed so I could just reach over and settle her. The lounge is at the other end of the house, thats why I end up asleep on the couch.

Thanks for your replies girls...

hey if she is haapy in the lounge i would let her sleep there. as suggested use a monitor for your poece of mind. ds 2 was in his room since week 2, he now 14 weeks. we have small home so i can hear him from our room no worries.

Yeay it sounds like progress !!! I too have a basinette, gr8 for breastfeeding or just peace of mind (my pet hate is this co-sleeping business). Keep up the good work!!! and I am sure if you persevere it will pay off and she will get used to it.
