HI Ladies,

I need some help!

We have the Mother's Choice 'Monza' carseat and now come to a dilemma.

DD is 6mths and is still rearward facing and the insert that comes with it says it MUST be used if the seat is rearward facing - all good.

HOWEVER, DD is now too long to have the shoulder straps come thru the highest points in the insert and i have a strong feeling i read somewhere that the straps must go thru the insert for safety.

So what do i do? Move the straps up to the next level even though they wont be thru the insert? Take the insert out? or leave it how it is with the straps thru the insert but the straps below DD's shoulders - HELP

None of them sound like very safe options to me

TIA

I would take the insert out. Its still alot safer for her to be rearward facing without it

thanks Zada - even though the tag says it has to be used when it is rearward facing?

she isnt anywhere ready to be forward facing as she is only just gone 7kg even though she is sitting up by herself for majority of the time.

yep it will say that its mainly to protect little bubs but as they grow they fill the seat out more. I had to take my sons insert out at 4 months for the same reason as you.

If I were in your shoes I would take the insert out, obviously you need to use your discretion but your bub will be far safer RF even without the insert IMO.

Yeah i think the inserts are to provide baby's heads with extra support....once they don't 'bob' around so much I would say it is safe to take out :)

Hey I would ditch the insert and go and buy another insert that will fit with your little one whilst seated in the seat etc

I have a hipod carseat that does have an insert but you dont have to use it with it. and you can actually take it out and move it either up or down etc quite easily (attaches between the slots at the back with velcro etc.

Other than that I would ring the company up and ask them or even racq etc or racv depending on where you are. There child restraint specialists are excellent with stuff like that.

Good luck with your decision.

thanks everyone - we have moved the insert up to the next strap holes, although its a pain in the beehind as it slips down and u have to pull it up when u put bubs in so i think i'll take it out.

thanks everyone :)
