Newbie help please

First time poster :wave: buts till confused by all the lingo on this forum :confused: but trying to understand it all....!!!
Finished taking pill after 10 years, just started my third period. I've worked out that my cycle is 34 days (from first day of bleeding to the day before my next period - hope thats right?). I know its different for everyone, but sounds like I would be ovulating late cause my cycle is longer - is that right ? So how many days from my first day of my period should I start trying then on ? Arrghhh so confused !!!

Hi there, welcome, I know the lingo can be daunting but you'll get it!!! :shakehands:

Cycles - The first day of your period is CD 1 (Cycle day 1) and this goes until your next period starts, so yes you got your cycle length right which can be a BIG help! :D

Don't quote me on this, but I am sure you ovulate 14 days before your next period is due. So for example, if you period started on the 1st July, you would ovulate on the 20th July, so your next period would be due on the 3rd of August.

Anyway to shorten it to what you want, you are probably ovulating at CD 20!

Exactly what Beckybug said. You generally get AF (Aunt Flo = period :laughing:) 14 days AFTER you Ovulate. So if you have a 34 day cycle then you would probably Ovulate at about day 20. My cycle are also a bit longer then the average - for me they're between 32-39 days, I guess with an average of about 35 days and I tend to ovulate around cd 19-24ish. So I would probably focus on BDing (baby dancing) from about day 16/17 through til about day 22/23.

since everyone ovulates at different times (cd14 is genealised), i would baby dance every 2-3 days through my whole cycle. thats how i fell with my daughter only second cycle into trying to concieve. This should keep your partner happy too:D. If after doing this for a few months your not pregnant then you could try charting (temps, cervical mucas, etc). personally though i like to baby dance that frequently to be sure that i caught the egg. goodluck:)
