View Full Version : Naturopath
Just wondering if anyone has had any luck with TTC after seeing a Naturopath. I thinking of making an appointment to see if we can get things moving any faster. I have been taking vitamins and supplements since ttc but am starting to think some professional advice could help. We have only been TTC for 6 months - so my Dr can't help at the moment - she has told me it takes an average of 9-18 months to concieve .... damn I am so impatient :D

To be honest I don't put much weight in either Naturopathy or Homeopathy, but that being said, the small outlay would be worth it if it does work, no?
Livy - I know 6 months feels like forever, but sometimes it just takes time for some people. We took 10 cycles to get my BFP, although I also started freaking out way before that - thinking something was wrong. After 9 months, DH and I went to my GP and we asked for DH's swimmers to be tested. My GP didn't hesitate, although maybe because I'm 33, they thought it make sense not to wait the usual 12 months. Anyway, we got the all clear, which was a huge relief and one month later I got my BFP. If you are really getting desperate, why not go to a new GP and just tell them you've been TTC for 12 months. At least getting some early tests (eg sperm) might give you the peace of mind that nothing's wrong, so you can just relax and leave it up to chance?

I've had one round of acupuncture so far - but I guess I'm not going to know one way or another til hubby gets home!!!! Yep - I think that will help.
I think Vitex and folate are pretty much all a naturopath will recommend. Maybe some maca powder and pineapple juice too. Save your $ and just do a google search on naturopathy & conception.

Now here's a subject I know lot's about ........ after seeing numerous Dr's we went to see Australia's best Fertility Naturopath and it was without a doubt the best thing we did.
Not only did they set us on the path of the healthy lifestyle we still enjoy to this day, but they gave us the best information, knowledge, support and encouragement over any of the Dr's we saw.
Along with giving up alcohol and caffeine, we (both DH & I) started taking vitamins and minerals and a herbal tonic - all aimed at getting the egg and the sperm at optimum health.
It took almost a year before we fell pg (I had endometriosis), but I had a really healthy pregnancy, labour, birth and most importantly a healthy bub which I credit to our Naturopath.
This naturopath is in Sydney (not sure if they have an office in QLD), so if you need the details send me a pm.
Goodluck on your ttc journey! :)
I LOVE my natropath, we are still waiting to see if what she has put into place has helped with TTC but I my general health is much better and that cant be a bad thing.
She also told me heaps of things I didnt know about being pregnant and has given me some great ideas for dealing with nausea when I get it.
Initially only my DH went for his asthma and happy to say that after cutting out 2/3 of his carbs (he was a carb junkie) that he has gone from 2 puffs a day of his inhaler down to 1 in 6 months!
She also helped DH to see that making the baby was half him (he didnt realise he could be healthier and help his swimmers and reduce the risk of miscarriage as well)
I fully recommend going to see someone but I would do what was already suggested and get a referal from someone otherwise you could waste time and money.
Livy, I would just go if I was you and hear what they've got to say. We've been ttc for 8 months and last week went and saw a Naturopath. She spent over an hour with us, just telling us all these things we could do to help things move along faster. She put us both on a multivitamin, gave me PCIP (Potassium Choride 65mg Iron Phosphate 15mg) and gave me some magnesium power. DH was given Zinc tablets. But honestly, the best part was the time she spent with us. It was well worth it. I've heard from ladies at work that their Naturopath spends heaps of time with them as well. Good luck!
Hi:wave: I just wanted to say thanks for all your advice...... I think we might just make that appointment. I am a bit worried that I am taking the wrong doses of the vitamins we are taking - so would be good to know. I hope we all get those BFP's soon :fingerscrossed:
