Im currently looking around to find a better deal, have done iselect and online quote with a few who are with iselect so far, but thought id ask here
We currently are with Latrobe and pay $132 per month with a max $500 exc for stay.Doesn't cover anything for the obs fee - but when i had dd we had top cover and it didnt either, so im wondering if any of them so
Cheapest i ahve found is medibank private for $121 per month with $250 excess, but only cover pg as a private patient in a public hospital, which we dont want
We after one that fully covers private hospy cost for pg with a max $500 excess and if they cover any obs cost that would be a bonus:)

Sounds like you have a pretty good deal.
We are with Westfund, paying $150 month for hospy and extras with no excess.
Doesn't cover the preg mgt fee, but not sure about the delivery fee... will need to look into it.
I used to be with NIB and it was more expensive, and I checked out iSelect but they quoted higher than NIB and Westfund! They told me NIB was the cheapest they had (at the time) with preg cover.
I found Westfund through the govt site: http://www.privatehealth.gov.au/

thanks for that, it does seem good from what ive found so far - that doesnt include extras though, might have a look at westfund now

Am wondering if any cover pg manage as with the new medicare changes my ob will be about $3k out of pocket this time so if there is a cover out there that will save on that it might be worth paying more for insurance

Im with MBF hosp and extras with no excess.
cant remember off the top of my head what we pay but you could look it up on their site.

anyways, I claimed on everything... including ob mgt fee. But i have heard the return you get from PHF is going to change as of Jan? (havent researched that, just heard it). I've been pretty happy with mbf.

goodluck in choosing, its such a hard choice to make

cheers

I know the medicare rebate amount is changing in jan, but hadn't heard about phf - hope not, i was happy having all the hospy costs covered

yeah we claimed back on tax too, but you only get 20% of it back - still something
