Hi Ladies,

DH and I are looking to TTC #2 soon (yep we are crazy #1 is only 6mths old) and after looking around i was thinking to use a sling for baby and the pram/stroller for DD while the new babe is still so fresh and small.

So, we have a baby Bjorn but i was after something a little more, snuggly...i dont mind using the baby bjorn when baby is a little older but when its fresh somethiing snuggly would be good. any suggestions?

Hug-a-bub or wrap type. I love love love love love mine (well, my borrowed one) I use it heaps for my 6 week old little babe! :) Yesterday we had a board games night with the in-laws so I wore her in that so I had two hands free, I also pop her in whenever we're going to be walking a while or just when it's chilly out so she has some more warms. :)
I lovvvvvvvve it! :D

I also have a standard ring-sling that hangs about in the car for quick trips.

You're crazy :p

I used the ergo with infant insert until a few weeks ago (DD s now 5.5 months). DD and I both loved the ergo as it was very secure. She's a bit big for the infant insert now and not big enough without the insert.

So for the last 2 or so weeks, we've been using a Baba Sling which is great. It's comfortabl and really cute and easy to use.

I wanted to use the sling when she was little but she hated it. Now she loves sitting up in it and checking out the world. The sling that suits you will probably be dicated by your baby to some extent.

thanks ladies :)

yeah im thinking ill have to see what the baby is like as my DD was diagnosed with Reflux at 3mths, however in hindsight i think she may have had it from birth so not sure if the new one will have reflux too and therefor not like being horozontal so much just like poor DD.

But then im a bit of a organisation freak and would want to buy one before it comes so i know i have it lol!

Seekrit - Is the Hugabub easy to use? do u have the ring type or the pocket type??

Justmum - lol i know! thats why we are only srsly considering it atm LOL

I found out I was pregnant with my DD 2 days before my DS' first birthday so I am not entitled to call anyone crazy  With that gap I found the ergo and now the Baba Sling have been invaluable.

Can you sew? I have heard of people making hugabub type wraps.

Hugabubs would e easy to make, really, it's just a long length of stretch cotton. :)

I find it easy to use, the first few times I was cranky because it felt loose and unsafe, until a friend told me to do it up too tight, it has so much stretch in it :)
I just have the wrap type hugabub

My sling is a ring sling as my husband and I were two very different shapes when Cobes was born, so he could wear it and adjust it to him too. :)

I used a Baba Sling with DS2 and I absolutely loved it. Also you can adjust bub inside the sling so that s/he isn't completely horizontal but on an diagonal angle to help with reflux (hopefully you wont have that problem twice).

A friend has lent me a buba moe sling but since I don't have the bubba yet I can't recommend it.

I was pregnant 5 months after DS1 was born so I do not think you are crazy. I think I'm crazy for waiting 6 years to have #3 (although at least my kids are independent enough for me to focus on one bub this time:laughing:)

Enjoy making baby #2.:babydust2:

I made my own wrap for about $30 - its 5 meters of stretchy fabric cut in half lengthways (so its 5meters by 60cms) and I have two of them.

Then jump on youtube to find out all the different ways to tie it. I only know two - infront sitting like in a baby carrier and also sling-style either for a little baby to lay down and also I do it sling style still for hands free and discrete breast feeding.

Just my thrift and versitile suggestion!

I might learn how to get bubba on my back, because he's a heavy muffin now (nearly 8 months) I'm sure its possible!

* what I made is basically the same as a moby wrap - so if you wanted to buy one ready to go - and they have pictures on their site to tie also, but I'm a bit daft and need to see someone doing it rather than frame by frame pictures!

I use a ring sling I got from Ebay. I can cradle hold them when they want and I often have my DS up against my chest with his little head poking out the top, facing me, he loves it. It is sooo snuggly and I find them comfortable.

I used a Nurture Sling, the price is quite reasonable - like $30 - I got the organic cotton one which was i think $45 - but next time I'd go the $30 one as it is more stretchy. I love having a sling, I used it till bub was about 10mths. Once she was sitting, you can put them in the sling sitting up on your hip... really good!

Goodluck.
