Hello all.

I have been trying to get pregnant for nearly a year now (second baby, DS 2 y 9m, no problems concieving last time) and I am finding it difficult - like everyone else here. I did some researching and decided to give chinese medicine and acupunture a go. I am not interested in going down the IVF, GIFT or even I think clomid route (but good luck to anyone who is).

I started CM and A with the start of my period 3 months ago. I am 'OK' but have a lot of 'heat' according to my dr (she specialises in fertility medicine). Have been having weekly acupuncture (80 dollars), chinese tea (about 60 dollars) and the black tablets that look like black pebbles (about 40 dollars). This has been going on for 3 months and the cost is getting to me, let alone the lack of a baby.

I really thought I was pregnant this month, my period was a week late (and am always on the knocker). No luck. I am now wondering whether to keep going for another month or just give up on it and keep on taking my temp and keeping 'trying'.

Apologies for long post. Just feeling really down this time (not like me to be like this) and just wonder if I am too old now (36 this weekend) and am fretting about there being a bigger gap than I would like for DS.:(

Thank you in advance.

Hi flipfeet and welcome to bubhub

do you have any idea about why you haven't been falling pregnant (apart from the fact sometimes it just takes a while).

I was having CM and A last yr and was paying about $100 a fortnight for one session of A and herbs which is all my practitioner recommended for me. Perhaps if the cost is getting too much someone maybe able to recommend a different practitioner that costs a little less. I'm more than happy to recommend mine if you're in sydney.

I'll keep my :fingerscrossed: you get your BFP soon. :babydust2:

Hiya

I am in the same boat as you...

I am doing TCM and Acupuncture, 120 bucks a fortnight it costing me.. Have been doing it since March, My cycles are around the 36 day cycles but atleast they are spot on 36 days (almost) and not any longer like they were!

My sister it took her 6 months of acupuncture to fall pregnant... and me, well lack of baby and 18 months trying I am beginning to just forget about it!

I have spent about 1500 bucks on Acupuncture!!! ALthough every time I go, I try walking out of there thinking "I am one step closer then I was yesterday!"

Are you using any OPK's or a maybe baby? to help predict ovulation? because obvuisly they can't give us a pill that will MAKE us pregnant, we still have to dance at the right time!

Chin up and hang in there hun I am sure it will come for all of us soon..

Lots of :babydust2::babydust2::babydust2:

Thanks everyone for your feedback.

I saw my GP and he said as I have already successfully conceived, all they can offer me is clomid, GIFT or IVF - not my thing. We then had the horrid chat about eggs going off on average at about 37, some earlier some later - TMI.

I live in SE Melbourne but work in the city. I am the main bread winner and work FT. Work is demanding but have gotten it under control the last few years and it is not very stressful anymore. I have some ongoing issues with the outlaws that have flared up that I imagine are not helping either.

Really, really thought I was pregnant this month with my period being a whole week later - I am on the dot at 28 days and this one was 35. Had spotting at day 31 and thought implantation but suspect an early loss? I have tried Maybe baby (worked with DS first month) and know from that and my temps I ovulate late. My temps run naturally high overall so has taken a few months of using charting and fertility friend to work this out fully.

Just keeping going I guess. So hard because everyone keeps hassling me about another one (always said I would have 1 but have changed my mind) and it is just so upsetting because I am not really going to blurt out we have been trying like mad for 10 months with no luck - people are so insensitive. I NEVER ask people about this sort of stuff as you never know what people are going through.

Thanks for the support.

Hi!
I just wanted to tell you my story as it is very similar to yours and may give you some more insight and especially some hope.

I had no problems conceiving DD, but it took 17 months to conceive again, thanks to three months of TCM and A. I also saw someone who specialised in fertility. Both DH and I had only monthly visits (right on the day of ovulation) to stimulate ovaries and sperm. Cost per month was about $150, including $40 of medicine which was a liquid I mixed with juice each day.
I noticed a huge change in my cycles right from the start. My periods were shorter and I had no cramping, and instead of a 32 day cycle, I finally started having a textbook cycle of 28 days (ovulating on day 14). I got a BFP on the third month, but unfortunately I had a miscarriage at 10 weeks. This was due to a small blood clot which prevented the baby from attaching to the uterus wall (it was picked up in a scan). While that experience was devastating, I do believe TCM and A helped us get pregnant, and we'll be going back to her again... we know we can get pregnant, we just have to keep trying.
If the cost is a problem, why don't you just go monthly when you ovulate. You can time it so that she stimulates your ovaries either the day before, or the day of, ovulation. Is your partner getting acupuncture too?

Re: your last cycle. I definitely suspect you had an early miscarriage, if your cycles have been regular, then TCM and A is going to keep them regular. It sounds to me like you are getting really close to getting a BFP!

By the way, I also had clomid for two months which was a total waste of time... dried up my tubes and cervix. DH and I thought about getting assisted conception, but decided we'd try something more natural first, and we are so glad we did. Clomid works wonders for women who don't ovulate, but if you do ovulate, then it's just a drug they give you before telling you to do IVF (which you clearly don't need because you have already conceived on your own). Stress less and stay positive! :hugs: :hugs:
