Gestational diabetes and birth weight

I was just wondering what was the birth weights of babies from mums who had gestational diabetes. It's just i never had it and i ended up with bigger babies 8lbs over cooked and 7lbs 14oz 2 weeks early. While mums with GD had lil 6lb'ers. :dizzy:

i suspect i had GD with my first pregnancy (only after i was diagnosed with my 2nd) but my first baby was 11lb4oz born day after due date & second was 9 days eraly & 10lb - so no small babies for me

i didnt have GD either and i had a 10pound141/2 baby 2 weeks over edd... they said that when i go back for another baby they will make me do the other GD test (not the normal 1 hour one) just to be sure..

I had GD and bub was 6lb 6oz :)

No GD with DS1, and he was 9 pound 12 and a half.
GD with DS2 and he was 8 pound 13 (1.5 weeks early).

I have GD and my baby is already 6.4lbs in 34 weeks.. She will be close to 9 lbs at birth... I am pretty petit and very scary..I guess I will have to go C-section, normal birth will be very diffucult..

I didn't have GD and was 2 weeks late and had a 10 pound 12 ounce baby, a friend of mine who did have GD had a baby just under 6 pounds

I had GD with DD and despite careful dieting ( I only put on 10kgs during the pregnancy, so my Dr and I had no clue that she was going to be so big (big for my petite fram anyway) she was 8 pd 4 oz, 58cm long and I had an awful time with her birth...Naturally with some help from vaccuum...should have been CS... I am cranky that dr didn't send me for a growth scan later in the preg. considering my age (32) my size, and the GD issue...

Never been tested for GD but I don't believe I've had it and I've had a 9lb 1oz and a 10lb 2oz baby. I gained 13kg and 14kg with my pregnancies and I'm a size 7-8 in clothes when not pregnant. It will be interesting to see how big no. 3 is - I was offered the GD test this time because of DD2's birth weight but I declined.

I'm now 33 weeks and scan has said baby is over 7lbs already. I have GD and polyhydramnios. I don't know how much weight babies gain between now and 40 weeks but if he goes to term he'll be a whopper!!

I had GD with DS 1 and he was 5lbs and 4 ounces. I didnt have it with DD 2 and she was 5lbs 5ounces

I didn't have GD for my first 2, DD1 was 8lb2oz (arrived on EDD) and DD2 was 9lb 2oz (1 week over). DS (had GD) was 8lb 6oz and I was induced a week early because of the GD and the fact that DD was biggish.

I have had GD every time except this one, where I have started the pregnancy as a late onset type 1 diabetic!

Bella ... insulin from 28 weks, born at 37 weeks, 8lb 7oz, oligohydramnious - lost 16kg during pregnancy

Daniel ... insulin from 30 weeks, born at 36 weeks, 13lb 2oz, polyhydramnious (6 litres!) and 1.2kg placenta - lost 15kg during pregnancy

Ruby ... insulin from 9 weeks, born at 39 weeks, 9lb 8oz, polyhydramnious (mild) - gained 7kg

Nikki and Sam were both born early and sleeping and I have no stats for them.

This one, well, I'm only 12 weeks and have so far gained 2kg! I have been a type 1 diabetic since 7 weeks after Ruby's birth, so everything was incredibly well controlled before I fell pregnant and I am working very hard at maintaining strict control still. It will be interesting to see how big this bub is!

Had GD both times, gained 6kg with DD1 and lost 5kg with DD2. DD1 was 5lb 15oz and DD2 was 5lb 11oz but I am 5'0 and these are good size babies for my build etc. I was probably more strict with DD1 and only ended up on either metformin or insulin for the last 2-3 weeks of each pregnancy.
