Well like the title sugests not only have myself and 3yr old been exposed to shingles but so has my 3month old daughter. Both my daughter are up to date with their immunisations but what is the likely hood that the 3month old will get it or chickenpocks:confused: I have no idea what to do, and I'm a little concerned about her getting it as she has a blood condition called Spherocytoisis that makes it harder for her to fight off common colds let alone shingles/chickenpocks. Its now 5:20pm so my gp has closed for the day and I've just moved to sydney and dont know where anything is around here (cronulla) How long does it take for any symptoms show...OMG what are the symptoms...please someone help!!!

you could call gpaccess after hours, open after 6pm 1300 130 147 and a registered nurse can answer your questions. it's for hunter region but maybe they can help

I dont think there will be symptoms over night.
I am pretty sure it takes atlkeast 7 days for chicken pox to showany symptoms.

Can you find a chemest that is still open and see it there is anything you can give a bub that can help with her immune system?

Did the infected person/child touch any of you?

Try not to stress about it to much at the moment cause in reality there is nothing you can do to stop it as such so I would probably just hang tight till you can see your GP.

:fingerscrossed: Your all safe.

Unless someone was actually poking at the shingles sores and managed to get the fluid on their fingers etc then chances of catching it are pretty slim.

I had shingles recently and it wasn't diagnosed properly until after the sores had scabbed over (sorry that sounds horrid) and neither of my children or partner caught anything from me

I was just going to say exactly the same thing (ok well pretty much anyhow lol) :D

If you yourself have had chicken pox you should be fine. You can't actually catch shingles itself the only risk is chickenpox (which not saying you think but its a common misconception that you can catch shingles)

Thanks everyone...the person who has them did have a quick cuddle of my daughter but nothing for too long. My daughter was fully clothed in a romper suit so I'm pretty sure there was no skin to skin contact. But I think I may head to the gp tomorrow to just make sure. We go to see our heamatoligist wed week so if something has appeared on her then she'll be able to give me some better advice.
Thanks again for all your support.:yelclap:
