just wanted to say hi and introduce myself and my partners situation a bit.
im new to this thread and have been slow to catch on that there IS a space for same sex couples/singles on the site. i dont know how i missed it..

im 24 and me and my partner are hoping to try IUI in the next couple of months using clinic donor sperm. we already parent a 5 year old girl together, that i 'birthed' ha.. five years ago.
we would love to get in contact with others in melb, and anywhere else who is going through the same thing, or similar thing.

is there anyone from vic or melb? id love to hear feeback or recommendations for fertility doctors in melb..
we hav to travel to albury until law changes too, so i guess id ike to get peoples ideas about the albury clinic and doctors also?

its such tricky business.. and anyones support would be extremely appreciated!! cheers,

S xx

Hello,

Me and my partner live in S/E Melbourne, have a 7 year old boy and tried for 6 months to get pregnant with a friend donor and finally succeeded in feb but lost it, but are now pregnant again. We would also love to get to know people in this area who are in the same situation too...and we would love for our children to see other kids have 2 mums also....

Where are you guys from?...sorry we don't know much about clinics as we did it all at home...

Hi Guys,

Thought that I would drop a quick hello as well. I am new to the site and my partner and I are hoping to start trying for our first child soon. We have been researching for a few years and feel we are (FINALLY) ready:) I guess that is a plus and a curse when you are not hetro. You cant just accidentally have too much wine and wake up pregnant but at the same time you could spend too much time planning and not get around to doing it!

We would like to have more money in the bank but we own a home, have good jobs and a great committed relationship so what are we waiting for!? I dont know if any one else feels like they are in the same boat?

Anyway I just wanted to introduce myself and see if anyone else is in the Brisbane area and either trying or has had a little one up here. We are wanting to get an appointment with QFG for IUI but we are unsure of the laws in QLD vs NSW (where we are originally from). I know in NSW that the non birth parent can go on the birht certificate but can anyone tell me if this can happen in qld?

Look forward to getting to know you all,

Caslina

hey Caslina

in QLD the non birth parent cannot go on the birth certificate :(

my partner and I were thinking about this, as I would love for her to go on the birth certificate when we start our own family.
we will probably be moving to NSW (if she gets into the navy) before bubs would be born anyway so we wouldnt have a problem

QLD is a little bit behind in this kind of thing

hope this helps

Hi Lisa,

Sorry for the late reply. Yes I thought so on the birth certificate fact but thank you for the info. We are from Northern NSW and our parents still live there so I think we might head down south for the last few months of pregnancy.

Hope all is going well with your attempts.

Sorry! I wrote that and then got caught up in everything that was happening and didn't write anymore, that wasn't meant to seem rude.

Anyway, thankyou all for writing - wish we all lived in the same city and could meet or something. I'm a week into the two week waiting period after going to albury for my first shot at insemination. Fairly surprised at the fact that we haven't caved in and done an early pregnancy test, but didn't want to get a false positive.

Well I'm rambling because I woke up to early, but just wanted to say thank you all for writing back. Love to hear more eh.
