My hubby & I were having a conversation earlier about nappies. We were interested to see what the percentages of cloth vs Sposie vs both were.....

At the mo we are using both cloth & sposie until I get enough modern clothies to forgo the sposies....

I wanted a poll on it sorry, ignore the other one...

My hubby & I were discussing nappies before & we were interested to see what percentage of people use what....

We do sposies & cloth until I get enough Modern Clothies to forgo the sposies...

I used Terry flats and disposables with DD1 until she was about 1. DD2 was only 5lbs born, so the terries were way too huge, even the newborn disposables were for a while. I just kept going with the disposables, as DD1 was just about out of nappies by then, and it wasn't too expensive.

I have never used a cloth in the years of my son... Saying that he is only 16months lol.. But have had years of experience with cloth in daycare! Each to their own, and whatever suits the parents and child, i say!

I only use huggies disposable nappies. Only use cloths to put on her change table so it isn't so cold on her back when I change her. I don't have the time or energy to be washing cloth nappies every day. Plus where we live we have a bio cycle septic tank and nappy san or any antibacterial washing stuff cannot go down our drains as it will destroy the septic tanks bacteria which is needed in there to break everything down.

Just to let you know that the new modern cloth nappies dont require napisan or the likes just wash with half the amount of your normal powder/liquid & your ready to go . Infact if you use napisan on them your actually going to end up ruining them !
Plus if you get enough in your stash you only need to do an extra load every 2nd or 3rd day but dont me im rather enthusiastic about cloth since i converted & honestly i was never going to touch them :o

Disposables...

although I'm feeling decidedly guilty and uncool now that so many cool people (such as yourself Poshbecks) are using cloths.

Ry is so close to TT now, I'm hoping my pain will soon pass...

rynosmum - Dont feel guilty !
I even say i would use disposables again if it became too hard or even when number 2 comes along unless i felt confident enough to handle it all.
Each to their own

We started out using terry flats and mopved to disposables as the cloth meant DS woke up everytime he wet himself. Also I couldnt buy clothes big enough to go over his big nappy bottom!!

We use babylove now which are great but I dont like the impact they have on the environment.

Modern Cloth are a great alternatative as they are more absorbent & keep bubs bottom dry!!

I'm such a "clothie" that I clicked on this thread thinking it was about "what kind do you use - fitted, AIO's, pocket??"

I use a combination of all 3 - but am finding pocket nappies to be brilliant, i used to yhink "too fiddly" but now realise they are probably my favourites in my whole stash!! Although I'm loving bamboo fitted's for overnight.

I'm actually quite seriously thinking about buying myself a new sewing machine so I can make my own pockets! In the long run it will be cheaper, and I can make them to fit his exact shape, plus i can choose the colour/patterns!! I'm getting myself all excited about it-now I just have to learn to sew

So, ahem, yes, modern cloth for me!!

Mammia Nappies for my lil girl :o

I love Mammia Nappies from ALDI too :smiliedance:- both my boys use them and we haven't had a wet or pooey leak yet! And they are so CHEAP. Also I find I use fewer because they seem to stay dry for ages and if my eldest wakes up dry from a nap we reuse the nappy next time (he's toilet trained otherwise) because they hold their shape.

Although I must say there are some very groovy cloth systems around that some of my mum's group swear by. If only I had the time!!

Good on ya!!! How do they go at nights? I use modern cloth or sposies at night, otherwise it's a complete bed change + nappy rash for my littlies!!
