i wasn't sure which section to post this in!

Is the purple sweet potato low GI? I peeled it and it is white inside so it looks like a normal potato and I know normal potato is medium GI!

Does anyone know the answer to that?

Hi, I'm not sure. I can't find it in any of my lists or GI books etc. But the list from my endocrinologist (when I had the gestational diabetes) does specify "orange flesh" sweet potato as low GI, which makes me think the white flesh might be higher.

Sorry, that's the closest I can find!!

I agree with Sue, the white flesh has a much sweeter taste than the orange so it is likely to be medium to high GI. This is just an educated guess however

Yep, sweet potato is low GI. Great alternative to potato for diabetics.

I am pretty sure you girls are right that it may not be low GI!
