Isn't it funny when having a severly disabled child(according to the reports), becomes normal, and when u see a 1 year old sitting u think "WOW they must be a genius!!!!
I am sooo used to tube feeding and running backwards and forward to hospitals and calling a cold RSV that when surrounded by normal stuff I just don;t get it!!!!
Funny how life works...
My story is different from your's, I can't imagine the strength of spirit you have. But all the same Leacie cannot sit up by herself, walk or even crawl properly. It all just seems so 'normal' for me to see her this way now, like you said. I do family day care and one boy I look after is only a couple of months older than her and another is only 18mths old (I've had them both since babies), but yes it was quite bizzarre watching them go through their milestones on par while Leacie is still at baby stage physically.

I know what you mean! :) One of my best girlfriends has a child just a bit younger than DD. Just the other day when I was visiting I saw him walking, communicating and even problem solving. I was just in awe of him, like I had never seen it before?? Even though my older DS developed without problems, I think I had forgotten how cool it is to watch a nearly two year old figure things out!
My girlfriends were a little worried it might upset me, but it was actually the opposite. I just thought it was the coolest, most amazing thing watching him. I kept pointing out what he was doing "look he fixed the bike by himself" "oh my god he is waving" like I was a lunatic!!! :yelclap::yelclap::yelclap: It seemed so weird to me that nobody had to teach him these things 4 million times over, and still have him not doing it!!

Our littlie - while he can walk - is incredibly unstable, falls a lot, wears a helmet, and can't see where he's going - and I find myself in a total ferment around 'normal' kids.. my hands are constantly going out to 'stop them falling'... it's probably funnier watching me than anything else.

I agree as with Reece he has never reached a milestone yet and still at 3 years old functions at a near newborn-6 month old.As much as it is hard knowing he will not do these things i get great joy and a slight weirded out feeling at watching kids reach milestones and am absolutely amazed at what my near 2 year old nephew does.I think its the fact that we all love kids regardless because of having special needs children.I think that by having these special needs children we have a whole different view on things be it both good and bad and when we see these other children do the amazing things they do we cant help but feel a little awkward or joyful as we know how hard it is and wouldnt want them kids to go through the challenges our children do.

Hope it made sense LOL
