Hey guys

Does anyone know if a nut allergy is limited to peanuts or would it include Almonds, Macadamia's etc?

Thanks

As far as i know...
Most nut allergies, are all nuts, but just to be on the safe side, i would probably check with your dr, as im not one, hehe.

It can be every nut.
For example DD is a severe allergy (anaphylactic) to cashews and pistacchios.
Her last 2 skin prick tests showed NO reaction to peanuts. She has SOME reaction to macadamias (not much), brazil and afew other nuts.
Basically every year in Sept, I take her in to Royal Children's Allergy clinic and they do a skin prick test of each of the nuts and measure the size of the reaction to each allergen.

Thanks guys. Lut does that mean that you wouldn't say be able to use a moisturiser or skin care product with Macadamia Nut Oil in it?

that's right!
Makes finding all sorts of products interesting.
For example, many shampoos have almond oil or macadamia oil in them... poor DH was banned from his shampoo cos I shower DD in our shower cubicle.

She also has eczema. When I first took her to a naturopath, they offered her a cream with ALL natural stuff... take your pick of nuts. Was like a smorgasboard for a video night.
That bottle was quickly taken away. LOL

My 3 year old son is allergic to peanuts as he came out with a rash after eating some peanut butter.
He then went to RPA allergy testing and had a skin prick test that came back positive to cashews as well. However, the allergist there said it is best to keep him away from all nuts as he will have a greater chance of growing out of it.

He has had nutella in the past and had no reaction to hazelnuts but I try to keep him away from all nut products.

My sons only reaction to the peanut butter was a slight rash and not swelling etc, which was good. I still carry an epipen jr just in case but my hopes are that the allergies will go away as he grows older as my brother had the same problem as a child and he grew out of it.
