Ok so who has them?
Who can answer them?

I have a couple if anyone can help?

* What's the best way to store celery in the fridge so it last?? Should I store it whole in the crisper? Should I cut it up and pop it in some tupperware? I want to be able to prepare it early in the week so when I pack the kids lunches (ie celery sticks etc) I can just grab and go

* Can I pre-prepare (ie peel & cut) veggies earlier in the day and still have them fresh and ready to go for dinner?
I've just made some potato & leek soup for lunch and I though - Hmmm I could have cut extra potato ready for roasting tonight.
Does anyone know if i cut them and left them in water, if they'd stay fresh and not go brown? Does it also work for other veggies?

TIA! :)

Not sure about the celery but your potato won't go brown if left in water - will last for days.
I cut all the vegies at lunchtime while my daughter is asleep - I just put it all in water - only thing I leave out is Brocolli - don't ask me why but it tastes different if left in water all day.

I can answer the celery question! A whole or half celery bunch will go rubbery within 1 - 2 days in my fridge, but if I chop the tops and bottoms off so I have just the individual stalks, they will store in a ziplock bag in the fridge for a couple of weeks!

I have discovered cutting off the leafy tops of celery and wrapping it in foil! OMG.. it just lasts and lasts!
I promise you.. just try it! you will be amazed

I agree with leaving the chopped veges in water and they won't spoil. I've heard of keeping celery sticks in the fridge in water but I could be wrong.

I have a few kitchen questions if anyone can help!!

- can you cook Kangaroo long and low (slow cooking)? I've only ever cooked it high until medium rare.

- anyone know what to do with quinoa? it sounds like such a wonderful grain (is it a grain?), I have some in the cupboard but never known what to make with it

You can slow cook kangaroo
My first thought was it would be too tough but if you keep the moisture up and cook it very slow it should be fine
There are plenty of slow cooked roo recipes around. Use the less good cuts though iykwim - just like with beef.

I do my veggies in the moring and make sure they are coverd with water so they won't spoil it works just fine for me. As for the celery you need one of these FridgeSmart (http://www.tupperware.com.au/wps/wcm/connect/AUS/website/productgallery/productcollections/smartseries/fridgesmart++large) I wash my celery and take the leaves off and it last for weeks

My question:

What's the deal with Brown spaghetti... i cant seem to get it right. It says to cook for 12 minutes but it always tastes undercooked regardless. Last time i cooked it for ages and it still came out rubbery... is it supposed to be like that?

I can be such a terrible cook sometimes... but i love cooking all the same :)

Any ideas :chef:

If it's anything like brown rice, it's meant to have more texture than the white variety. I cooked a risotto with brown rice, and it took well over an hour to get it even remotely edible, and even then it was still a bit chewy.

agreed Nonny .. wholemeal pasta will never have the same texture as white pasta.
