Hi guys,
My son is 8 months old,and just getting the hang of solids. He still breastfeeds on demand-some days he hardly has boob, other days hes on it all day:rolleyes:
He also feeds to sleep, but is starting to go to sleep alone in pram if we are out,or in his carseat.
DF and I are getting married next May so Im wanting to go back to work in the next few weeks so we have some more money.I also feel I need to have a break from DS(funny how going to work becomes a break lol)
I only want to work parttime,a few hours a day because any more and I would just stress the whole time bout DS getting hungry.
Ive been trying him on a bottle of expressed milk.Im using the pigeon teats,Ive heard they are the best.He tries to drink, but fusses and doesnt really get much.Even if Im not there he still wont take it.
Im just after some advice to get him to take it,and to hear others experiences with going back to work.Im not prepared to give up breastfeeding yet but I do feel its time to cut down feeds and get him on a bottle as Im feeling like a milkbar, and I need a break.
Sorry for the long post!
Cheers,Chels

Hi,
Have you thought about introducing a cup instead of a bottle? (Either sippy or straw there are so many varieties). Bottles are not a necessary developmental step you are quite within your rights to skip them all together (makes less work too)

Hi Chels,

I have ds2 going to daycare 3 days a week now... he is still BF.. but he has no choice but to go the day (6hrs) without boob.. he gets offered a bottle.. sippy cup...

And if he is thirsty he has no choice but to drink from something other then boob

Takes a bit of time for thenm to adjust.. and they will be fussy, and kick up a stink... but after a while they become used to the idea..

I still offer bf in the morning and evening...

Jut stick with it.. and try not to give in

All the best!!
xx

I was a bit lucky, we'd had to give DD EMB in a bottle since she was 3 days old, so she's always drunk from bottles really well - but I think that the idea of offering EBM in a cup is a good idea. That way, when it comes time to wean, whenever you decide to, your bubba will already be used to cups and you could forgo bottles altoghter!
