Seekrit this thread is specially for you since I know how much you love talking about poo.

Just wondering if anyone else has had really pale runny poos while pg. I'm taking iron so I'm thinking they shouldn't be pale, right? There's also lots of nausea and gas involved (not really like MS nausea). I'm wondering if it's a reaction to my iron tablets - what do you reckon? (I'm taking FeFol)

Sorry to inflict my toilet issues on you - hope I haven't ruined your day :o

OOo I hear my name! And poo!
When I was taking FeFol I had dark green (like forest green) poo! and they weren't runny.. but I don't know if that's typical ?

Sorry I'm not much help, I just wanted to respond as I saw my name ;)

Yup, iron makes you have really dark colored poo...even black
I guess the runnyness could be how your body reacts to the iron, but it usually has the opposite effect.

Maybe you have a bug of some sort...I hope you don't :fingerscrossed: ...but there is a few around again.

Hope you are feeling better soon :)

Generally iron consipates you. And in such high doses as FeFol has - it also turns your poo dark green or even charcoal black.

It doesn't sound right to me, Tea Lady - I'd call your pg carer and ask.

I thought you'd appreciate it Seekrit!

Hmmm yes, I thought green / black was the way things should be (based on my last pg). I think I'd better go and see the doc AGAIN!! I'm sick of stupid tummy bugs :( Thanks for being willing to talk poo everyone! :)

I didn't even put it together that I've had pale and runny poo all day yesterday, but I had gastro! So I was :barf:ing as well! I hope the same isn't in store for you Miss Lady!

No problem...I seem to have been looking at it every time I changed DD today, a little poo talk before bed wont hurt

Talking of parasites.......

I had a nasty case about 5 or more years ago. It was Giardia and not a very pleasant thing to have. It does give you bad runny poos and very bad stomach pain (which I was hospitalised for twice). Had it for nearly a year before they worked out what is was. Even had my appendix removed cause they thought it might of been that. But I still had runny poos they finally did a poo test and found out I had Giardia, gave me four tablets and it went away. Not happy  bout the unnecessary operation. Hmmmm doctors????

But off that topic, it is probably something going around like it does every winter....I have taken iron tablets and yes you do need to drink metamucil to keep you daily......

Hope you feel better soon.

Same thing happened to me, Mandymoo, minus the appendix op.

Apparently, Giardia is really hard to pick up in poo tests - I had to have a 10 day running test, drop off a sample at 10am every morning. Was not pleasant, let me tell you.

Same for me, though, 4 doses of antibiotics later, and it went away. But we had to get water filters for our taps as we're on tank water out here, and that's where the Giardia came from. Yukky.

Sorry, slightly off topic, just thought I'd share my poo-story! LOL

Ewwwww!! I told my dad about it (doctor) awhile ago and he thought it might be giardia too - apparently kids can carry it without symptoms so I could have caught it from DD- yuk!! I guess I'd better get tested - fun fun fun

Have you thought about having your liver function tested?

When I had non A,Bor C specific hepatitis a few years back, (I know, tmi) my poo was always pale and runny. There was damage done to my liver and I know when my liver function isn't that good because it reoccurs ...

Just a thought ... not wanting to scare anyone!

Thanks Kyra!

I went to the doc yesterday but she wasn't very concerned - seeemed to think I wasn't really suffering (must have been too cheerful - d'oh!!). I think I'll go back to my normal doc when he gets back from hols.
