Letrozole

Hi :wave:

Quick question. Is any one else taking Letrozole instead of clomid????

We concieved our DS on clomid and now are trying for number 2. We saw a new FS today and he suggested Letrozole as ovulation induction over clomid - just curious on others info on this drug.

Also FS wanted as to take some extra supplements etc.. and he wrote down for DH to take some kind of berries but we can't remember the name and we can't read the Dr writing - so if anyone would have any ideas on what type of berries he might be talking about please let me know.

Hi

I found out the name of the berries - they are called Goji berries they are suppose to really help male fertility - if interested on this google it as it has lots of info on how it helps not only fertility but it is also known to help kill of cancer cells

Any help on the Letrozole would be great - i am on my 3rd day of taking it and i am feeling a lot stronger side effects than i did on clomid

Hi

Seeing that no one else is on Letrozole i thought i would still add info from my experience here in case someone else comes looking for the info.

Ok i am on CD24/4DPO. The side effects from letrozole has been minimal only a slight headache on 3rd day of taking it other than that nothing until a few days before O. I had started to get O pains from around CD16 and they procced to get more and more intense as i got closer to O. The day of O i was in agony :no: they pain was bad and it wasn't just one side it was all over and i could hardly use my tummy muscles to stand and bend but by the afternoon the pain had completly gone. I also got extremly stong OPk's on CD18 in the afternoon than even darker again that night.
So now just doing the TWW. Oh also this month i had an abundance of CM which i never get. I don't know if it was from the Letrozole or from the supplements my FS put me on but there was definetly no need for preseed - in my DH words " preseed eat your heart out":laughing:

Anyway will let you know how my journey on Letrozole goes and hopeful this will help others who may also be put on to this drug :shakehands:

Update:

Today i am CD31/12DPO and i got a very strong BFP, this afternoon on 4 different HPT test !!!!

So all i can say is Letrozole was great!!!!

Hi, i just wanted to thank you for your post, i just started on letrozole 3 days ago, my FS has put DH on goji berries and aloe vera juice and a bunch of other stuff for us both such as fish oil, zinc, folic acid, etc. I was trying to find out whether letrozole would affect OPK results, but i see you say you still got your positive. Congratulations too i see it worked for you, i really hope it works for me. Were you put on it because you werent ovulating by yourself at all, or for another reason?? i already ovulate by myself but had been getting spotting from 5dpo up until my af. So he thought this might help. I am also trying to work out whether it could possible make me ovulate earlier than i normally would without it. Any ideas???

I am glad that my posts helped you. I see you are in Brisbane, i am too. Are you going thru QFG???

We were also put on all the supplements that you are on as well.

I was put on Letrozole as i have really long cycles and it is hard to pinpoint ovulation. I do ovulate on my own but the letrozole helps to reduce cycle length.

FS wanted me to take it days 2 - 6 but when i saw him i was on day 7 and he did a scan and saw an great folicoile and told me to take it day 7 - 11.

I know on clomid it can make you ovulate earlier or later and i think Letrozole is similar. I ovulated this cycle on day 20 and i got postive opks on day 19 and 20. We had sex every day from about day 14 and than on days of postive opks we had sex twice on the wed again thurs morning and night. Ore FS said there have been new studies to show that daily sex can improve sperm mobility.

Thanks for your reply, yes im on Brisbane's Southside and i had my first appointment with QFG last week. I was told to take it from days 2-6 as well but i saw him on day 4 so he just said take it from 4-8 which i did, i am now on day 10. I started OPK's as soon as i finished letrozole and on day 9 and again 10 it is looking postive, but i have googled around a bit and i think the letrozole would have been increasing LH so that is probably why i am getting a postive reading, i will continue to do them every day though until i get a super dark positive one, usually i O around day 18 so will be interesting to see if the letrozole moves it forward a bit.

Just thought i would do a quick follow up on this. I got my bfp on my second cycle of letrozole so it worked for me too. Im now 9 weeks pregnant, due on 24 June 2010.
