I am booked to deliver at The Angliss hospital (EDD 11 October 2006) - is anyone else here booked there as well, or has anyone already delivered there and if so could you please share your experiences?
I was born there myself, but that was 34 years ago, and I'm sure a lot has changed!

I had my daughter at the angliss hospital and i thought they were fantastic! I gave birth in the birthing center so i had midwives deliver my daughter. I cant complain about anything there. They were always helpful and took great care of me throughout my pregnancy/birth. I know several other people who have also delivered there and think very highly of it. Good Luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

I have quite a few friends who have had babies there and they all have glowing reports. I also have a friend (a very pregnant midwife!) who works in the special care nursery there and I would trust her with my babies life.:)

I gave birth at the Angliss in 2003 and am booked in for September 29th!!!!!
I can not speak highly enough of the care both DS and I got there. He was born early and small for dates so was in Special Care for 15 days and the care was fantastic. I would ring at 2am and it was no hassle.....I would sit there all day and they were so caring and understanding.
I went through the shared care (Dr/midwife) so I had one of the midwives that I had seen the whole way through my pregnancy, but the other couple that helped with the birth were great too.
I just delivered in the normal room, not the birthing suite and I thought it was nice enough. To be honest I didn't take all that much notice (who does??). They had a big ball for me to rock back and forth on and that was basically all I cared about
Do the tour that they have and I am sure you will be happy there. :fingerscrossed:

I had my DS there in jan this year I was induced and had to stay there 2 nights before he actually came into the world. They were fantastic always checking on me, I had one midwife most of the day when I was actually hooked up to the drip and she was the best her shift finished before I had actually had him, she went home and was calling every hour to see how I was going and when he finally arrived I spoke to her on the phone she wanted to see how I was doing. I would go back there with my next for sure!!!!!!! Loved them all!!! :yelclap: :yelclap:

Great news - that's a huge relief. My sister gave birth at the new Mercy in Heidelberg last November and my family are giving me grief, saying I should go there (even though it's a fair way from home) - I'm glad I've stuck to my guns. I thought it'd be nice giving birth to my son in the same place I was born (and it's closer to home too).
I go for the breastfeeding/parenting classes on 7 & 14 August and then for the childbirth class on 10th September (which seems very close to my due date!) I will do the tour of the hospital then, I guess.
Is it just luck if you get a room to yourself, or are most shared anyway? Not that it matters because I think they only keep you in for a couple of days now don't they (unless I have to have a caesar)?

I had both my babies at the Angliss Hospital, having chosen to go there from countless recommendations from people I knew, or strangers who talked to me simply because of my big belly! I never heard a bad word about the place and after having my son there in 2004, I understood why. All the midwives were fantastic, and I had to stay there for four days so I met plenty of them. In fact, the midwife who helped with my son's delivery actually stayed for nearly 2 hours beyond her shift ending because she wanted to stay with me to the end, as my labour was quite short. How amazing is that? Therefore, I never hesitated to go back to have my daughter there 5 weeks ago. I would recommend the Angliss to anyone. The only down side is the food! I would recommend ticking the salad and/or salad sandwiches boxes on your menu, or get a friend to bring you Subway! Otherwise, I can't speak highly enough of the place. Hope this helps you. And don't let yourself be pressured by anyone else - it is your baby, your decision, you do what is right for both of you. Best of luck for the most special time of your life. :)
