there was a case of this at my son's daycare. a little girl he plays with has it. and i rang my midwife after calling nurses on call number for advice and i had to go get a blood test to be sure i was immune. i get the results on monday. if i'm not immune what should i do?

My friend was a teacher and was pregnant when slap cheek went around her school..she had the blood test done and I think (can't be exactly sure) but I think she wasn't immune to it and had to stay away from school until it had gone. Check with your doc on Monday, but you may need to get your son checked and keep him away from daycare until the case of slap cheek has gone. It's generally not harmful to the child that has it, but can be harmful to a pregnant lady - the unborn fetus.

:fingerscrossed:

my daughter had it once, she had a measles like rash on the tummy and a pimply like red rash on the cheeks. She had fever, off food and just generally unwell.

The daughter said to me it is most harmful to women in the first trimester as he asked if I was pregnant and I wasn't.

Hopefully all will be fine:)

I assume you told the Dr about the rash? I'd be going to a different doctor, sounds like he didn't take everything into consideration.
Hope Cody gets better soon :hugs:

It went arround dd's school at the beginning of this year.

Basically, once the rash is out they are no longer contagious so can attend school/day care etc, so there is nothing we can do to prevent ourselves from getting it other than isolating ourselves from the source and hoping that it hasn't already been passed on!

It was frustrating to me knowing that my dd was at school (she was the 2nd kid to get it!) passing it on to other kids before I knew that she had it! It's just one of those annoying childhood diseases taht you just have to hope won't effect you at the wrong time (ie. when pg)
