Im just starting this as im not a computer whiz and im sure there must already be one but am having trouble navigating and getting used to this.:geek:

Im overweight, by quite alot actually but have been since i was a kid. im currently 130 and ttc as ive just lost 30 kg and this is just who i am. Im very tall and very healthy and fit, never had high bp and not at risk of diabetes.:yelclap:

Im scared i wont be able to find a doc to help me as my mother has forever nagged me about it:hair:...... although i see short and obese ladies all the time with 10 kids hanging off them in the supermarket so there must be a way or someone out there accepting that bigger girls can have normal pregnancy's.
does anyone with a similar story have any advice or POSITIVE story to tell me for hope????

i hope so.:fingerscrossed:

I was about 20kgs over wieght when i fell pregnant with DS. I had an amazing ob who didnt mention my weight once during my pregnancy. I was up front with how sensitive i was about it and she managed to monitor me without ever mentioning it once. The only time i had any problems was when i was in labour and having an epi the anestisiologist made a rude comment to me about all the extra weight making it difficult to put the needles in. I almost killed him. Other than that no problems with my health or bubs development.

I almost killed him.

I would have!! or at least given him a back hander and blamed it on the shock of the needle. So rude

I to have had a great Dr my BMI was in the overweight category, but my Dr said she had seen so many more "skinner" women have unhealthy pregnancy due to smoking or massive caffine intakes, she said weight was the least of her concerns so long as I had a good pregnancy diet and exercised for at least 30min most days.

I've only had one rude Dr at the hospital when I went for checkin, when I asked for help with severe m/s she said I should just try not eating fatty food - :banghead: I promptly told her how rude & wrong she was and demanded to see a different Dr.

If you ever come across any Dr that is rude or disrepective to you refuse to see them again. It's your body and like you said you are fit and active so will be a great mum to your little angel in waiting.

and just for the record a friend of mine was 130kg, 170cm tall when she fell pg - her little man was born naturally full term, 3.6kg and healthy as :)

Good luck :flowerz:

well im 97kgs, have three kids and never had any problems in any pregnancy other than appendicitice in my last which could of happened whether i was 200kg or 50kgs. i have never concidered myself as 'fat' or 'obese' but i do know i am. im fit and healthy, eat well and exercise. i just carry 'baby' weight built up from each pregnancy.
good luck with ttc

Hmm okay so I was around 140kgs 173cms tall when i fell preg (lost 10kgs in the first trimester?!?) and ended up at around 149-150kg (eek) just before i had my son........My Ob CONSTANTLY went on about my weight and tried to diagnose me with EVERYTHING possible that is supposed to happen when you are bigger.

BUT I am happy to say I had NO health issues at all went to full term, have an emergency C-section (cord around bubs neck) and had no issues with getting spinal block in (he got it first try!!!) and no issues with healing of my scar.

Sorry to go on but above all i have now lost over 25kgs and still loosing more in my ttc2 so best of luck on your journey and just because you have a higher weight does NOT mean you will have issues!!!! :yelclap:

hi all...

I am about 110kg and TTC #2...DS is 2.5 years old! Had absolutely no trouble conceiving DS (actually was a pleasant surprise) but have been told i have elevated testosterone and told to lose weight....has anyone else had this problem due to weight? I have no symptoms with the extra testosterone except that i have irregular cycles the last couple of months and a little bit of spotting. My GP seems to think that i will have some probs getting pregnant this time (i hoping to prove him wrong!) due to irregular af...i'm trying to lose weight while we TTC! Is anyone else doing this?

Good luck to everyone TTC! It is exciting and i don't think weight (on its own) is a problem! I was 105kg when i conceived DS and only put on a small amount of weight post delivery.

x

I am 115kg ttc.

I have not had any problems concerning my weight with my doctors or gyno.

All I was referred to, is to eat healthy. But nothing about exercising to lose the weight.

I have pcos, so my weight goes up and down regularly. I think the heaviest I have been is 123kg.

Hi there

I would LOVE to join you on your TTC journey.

I was about 115kg when i fell pregnant with my DD, who is now 5. I had NO issues with my pregnancy and fell pregnant in one week.

This time, im probably about 135kg, and have been off all contraception since Oct 2008. Im with a different partner now and its not working just yet. We havent been "actively" charting, etc, but we are just being hopeful. Im 3 weeks late but all the hpt are coming up negative so i dont think im pregnant but im sure a blood test will extinguish any last hope, but nevermind. Im off to the GP on Monday. Im not looking forward to going to the doctor to have him tell me its all "because of your weight". I dont believe it is so. Im healthy, dont have high blood pressure or high sugar, etc. So... we shall see..

I had a wonderful ob with my daughter and couldnt fault him. The only time he said anything about my weight was one of the first visits. I had to have a vaginal ultrasound- and he said "im just going to do the internal because your a little chubby so it makes it hard to do the pelvic at this early stage". He said it so nicely i didnt take any offence. When i said to him "im worried about my weight" he said "im not". In the end, he wouldnt tell me what i weighed anymore (and i couldnt see the scales because of my belly) because he said "youre more worried about it than i am!".

So it IS possible.

Ill be glad to join you on your journey. :hugs:
