View Full Version : cake box help
im full of questions arent i lol..
well here's my latest one!
im after cake boxes for the wedding cake so it can be the bonbonnaire(sp?).. problem being i dont know where to find boxes.. i've looked online but really dont want to spend $50+ for 50 of them.. i'm getting stickers made with our names & marriage date so they'll be going on the box instead of ribbons which will be time consuming on the night.. but yeah im just after boxes.. or another way that people can take the cake home??
oh and what size box should i be after??
thanks girls!!

Do you want to make your own?
It's reeealy easy - just need a printer and some card to print, some scissors and wala!
I have some links to some amazing styles, cute chinese take out boxes, little handbag boxes.. there are loads of styles on the internets!
I am a DIY addict though, I am sure I will get mine done for waay less than 50 bucks for 50...
Plus they will be totally original, and I can decorate them however I want.
And I have some pretty.. unique tastes..

Hey, I can't answer your question on where to get the boxes but I am a Pastry Chef by trade and am planning to have my own wedding cake business from home oneday.
Reguarding the size of the box you should talk to your cake maker. In most cases a tea and coffee/ take home size portion is 1"x1". Dessert portions are more like 2.5"x2.5". Then you have to factor in the height of the cake. I make my cakes rather tall so you should check what yours will be like. It would be such a shame to make or buy boxes and then your particular cake doesn't fit. Oh and make sure your reception venue don't mind to pack the cake into boxes when they cut it. Some places hate doing it. I know I did when I worked at a 5 star hotel as it is so time consuming. But if your paying the big bucks they should do it for you.
Goodluck.
