No I believe they arent actually meant to because its a highly restricted/ regulated prescription which means a g.p isnt meant to prescribe it instead its meant for a Paed or GI to do so ...
I believe that if you have already been prescribed it by a Paed or GI then a g.p is able to then do a repeat prescription if need be but mostly its meant for those with greater training iykwim.
Its like once a child hits over 2yrs of age it becomes harder to get the presciption again as it means more testing & requirements need to be met for the government to approve it.
Its a very very expensive formula & this is why its often so hard to get !
hi i posted a reply in your other section for you. Hope it helps:)

I posted the authority criteria in your other thread.
My GP does arrange the authority prescription for us.................but only because my son is also under the care of an allergy specialist too (they can also just be under the care of a gastroenterologist).
