Hi everyone,

Today I went off to Big W to check out their bouncer that is on sale as of tomorrow however once there I became stuck in my decision making once I spotted the swings! :p

I'm just wondering, would you use only a swing or a bouncer or would you go with both?

I'm looking at something like this cradle swing (http://www.crazysales.com.au/index.php?productID=5247)and this bouncer (http://www.amazon.com/Bright-Starts-Adventure-Cradling-Bouncer/dp/B00113ALAO).

All your thoughts & wise input will be greatly appreciated!

TIA :flowerz:

I'm going with both!!! I already have a swing and it's worth it's weight in GOLD!!! But I think a bouncer would also be handy and they are so cheap atm that I can't see why not!

If you were going to pick just one, personally I'd go with the swing, INVALUABLE!!!!:yelclap:

We have both.

Bouncer is a very basic design, we use it for newborn and if we go anywhere because it goes nearly flat so easy to pack in boot.

We got a swing but not the full cradle one. It is more like a chair. Lasts a lot longer and can be taken off swing and used as a seat later.

We needed ours to be more upright as both boys had reflux and it was the only way to get them to sleep for more than 10 minutes during the day!!

Thanks ladies, I am definately leaning towards having both as well. :D

If you don't mind me asking what brand swing do you have as there are so many on the market and I'm not too sure it's necessary to get the most expensive ones or ones such as the Fisher-Price Rainforest Cradle Swing!

Thanks again! :flowerz:

We have a Fisher Price one. It's an older version of whats available now as we got it from someone DH works with. It swings front to back and side to side, that's it. It does have a toy mobile that goes in circles but a basic swing would be all I would be after.

Both if you can afford it!

I had the bouncer for DS1 so he could come everywhere with me but not 'have' to be on me - if he was happy to sit and play (eg hanging washing, doing dishes etc)

For DS2& DD I had x2 bouncers and x2 auto swings!! (F&P aquarium one and an old F&P one we borrowed from a friend). They were life savers when I had 3 under 19months!! and onwards- the auto swings helped sooth an unseetled bub if the other was really really unsettled.

They snacked in them when they started solids as the high chair didn't recline.

The rain forest swing looks really cute:D

...just be aware taht they chew the batteries!!..I wish someone would invent a rechargable battery for them-or have the option of plugging it in!

Oh i have a F&P Smart Stages Rocker Swing.

As well as a swing, you can take it out and use as a seat or select it so you can rock it too :)

Love it!

I had one of each, and my boys by far preferred the bouncer over the swing. The bouncer I had was similar to the one you pictured, only the deluxe model. They absolutely loved it :)

When DD was born, we bought the Fisher Price Papasan Cradle Swing (similar to THIS (http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/fisher-price-my-lil-lamb-papasan-swing/) one) Absolutely invaluable and worth every $250 we spent on it! I highly recommend getting one, and if you can afford it, a bouncer is good too especially as most of them you can fold and take out with you to friends places etc.

ETA...just noticed the one you are looking at is very similar and a great price - I would go for it!!

I too Am getting both :)
With DS I had both bouncer and swing, both brought second hand, and he loved both, great for settling.
The bouncer we are getting is A Fisher Price Precious Planets and the Swing is In the Kmart toys sale, it's also Fisher Price.

The one thing I would do differently is have a swing that was easy to transport and take out with us. DS would only sleep in his swing for the longest time so we'd pack it up and lug it along with us!!!

FP do a take along swing that Target are having in their sale:

Hope that helps!

Hi ladies,

Thank you so much for your feedback & thoughts - I greatly appreciate it!

I went and got the Bright Starts Adventure Pals Cradling Bouncer this morning and was happy to get in early before the mad rush for the sales. I haven't taken it out of the box yet to check all the parts are there and nothing is faulty, I'll wait for DH to give it the thumbs up!

I have decided from all of your responses that we'll get a swing as well. Thank you Moo Mum for pointing out to me the take along swing on sale at Target come July 23. I really like it!

At this point, I'm wondering whether I'd spend $100+ on batteries as the take along swing is battery operated whereas the cradle top open swings can be electricity controlled now.

Do the take along swings zap the life out of the batteries or have you found good rechargeable ones?

TIA again for your replies! :flowerz:
