Thalassemia Kids

My son was diagnosed with Alpha Thalassemia when he was 5mths old and I was wanting to know if there was any other parents out there that have kids with this blood disorder. I know of only my nan that has this. DH, DD & I have been DNA tested to see if we have it also or if we are carriers however we won't know the results for mths yet...

Hi there, I had some blood tests results come back indicating that i too carry thalassemia (it had the symbol 'a', so i assume alpha). My Dh has to be tested to see if he is a carrier. If he is then our baby might have a chance of having severe thalassemia syndrome. I am not sure what that means yet! I am worried at the moment, but just have to think positive. I dont know ANYONE on both sides of our families that SUFFER from this, so I guess that is a good sign so far.
