View Full Version : $700 - that's how much we are entitled to right?
We are entitled to $700 a fortnight as single parents right? Why did I think it was more than that all these years:confused:?

It really depends on a few things.
Firstly, whether or not you work and earn money. Whether you're studying. How much you recieve in child support. How much rent you pay. How many kids you have. Your assets.

Yeah I meant as the maximum for one child. Not working. Not studying. No child support. Government rent. No assets:).

I get a fair bit more than that......
I'm not claiming rent assistance, but I still get more than $700

Okay why have I being getting just $700 lately the past month:confused:? I've even called them and they said everything is fine and up to my circumstances. I've been browsing the site now but it's just so confusing:hair:!

uhm not sure really... do you have an exemption with them for child support so they are paying you max family tax benefit? other than that it definately sounds like you are missing something...
sorry i can't help more :s

use the online rate stmator, use the centrelink and family tax benefit option.......
sam's mum
30-06-2009, 14:29
have you done the rate estimator?
I think it is more than that.
Did you get an advanced loan with them? It's possible but they are taking out higher repayments because it's the end of the financial year and they are meant to be paid back within a 6 month period.

You said you aren't getting any child support.....Is this approved by centrelink?
I only ask because I was waiting for legal aide to come through with dna testing, and centrelink kept cutting off one of my ftb payments because I wasn't claiming any child support.
From the amount you are recieving, it sounds like 1 of your ftb payments has been cut.....

Nope, no loans, I'm a bit anti-loan, if you can't afford it you can't.

Where is it?
I just got off the phone to a (very rude) lady called Belinda who told me ftb a and b is $280.14 and goes up to $287.54 on 1 July and parenting payment is $575.80. So all up it's $863.34. My rent is $160. Why is there only $600 in my bank account? Living off $300 a week is sh!t:thumbsdown:. Something ain't adding up here and didn't add up last fortnight either.
Nope CP he pays his minimum child support (and whinges about it so I wish he didn't).

I would suggest getting access to the family assistance online service, you canlog in and check what payments you are recieving, and if you have been hit with any deductions.....
I'm not recieving rent assistance and my ftb payments are $280, so no, something is definately not adding up.
I would hightail into an office if you can get into one,and have a sit down with someone and work it all out. YOu willgenerally get a different answer from every phone operator you ring.
Here (https://secure.centrelink.gov.au/RateEstimatorsWeb/publicUserCombinedStart.do?OriginName=FAO) is the link for the estimator!!! Good luck!!
Also - why do I have to go and fill in another stupid Centerlink form to get PES next semester. It's the same effing course and the same effing uni - yeah I deferred this semester - SO?:mad: Stupid Centrelink forms. I want to go to the effing park not run around the city handing in forms and sit on the phone all day talking to rude people:mad:.

I think you should register for online services. A record of your payments is available there (goes back a couple of years or so I think) so you will be able to tell exactly what is going on.

Its a pre-requisite that call centre staff be rude arrogant buttholes......
I can appreciate that you are joining in the vent. But that is really uncalled for. these people are just that, people. they have families, they have houses, they even use the toilet...
they have good days and bad days, they can be helpful, they can be just getting through the day in a job that they hate for the money.
I would hope that this can be reminder to everyone on the forum to think about the generalisations that you are making. (and then preferably not make them)
Just in regards to PES, if you defer or change courses, heck if you even sneeze, they make you go in. I am currently fighting to get backpay since the beginning of this year as my course during which I was doing fulltime clinical prac is only regarded as part time PPPFFFTTTT!!! Tell my HECS account that.Even the lovely lady who always deals with me in my local office just shook her head.
Ok vent over....

Yes I agree. I wasn't trying to say all call centre staff are mean, some have being helpful and nice. But this lady was incredibly rude. When she asked me why I thought I was getting less than I should as if I was an ungrateful horrible monster, she said it very loudly and quickly. Ah well *shrugs*.
Centrelink are telling me I got one number in the bank, the bank is telling me I got another number. And then more went out because the account got overdrawn and it never was supposed to. So first I sort out Centrelink and then figure out where the other money went.
Lol fun fun fun. I obviously have gotten rather fecked this month:thumbsdown: LOL.

Oh I know about the sneezing. I've being cut off TWICE from PES (full-time), once cut off completely and once put onto part-time because they got word that I'd pulled out. Wtf??? I was officially enrolled in uni wtf??? My opiion of Centrelink doesn't go through the roof.
:hugs:Sorry about retards who woulnd't give you full-time PES (a whole $30 more omg).
Retards at JET wouldn't give me JET childcare because I wasn't doing a one year and under course:thumbsdown:.

Oh I argued that point too....I did get JETT for my final semester after they said the same thing to me. I actually spoke to someone in a JETT office and asked why I was getting discriminated against, when all I wanted was to finish my teritary qualification in order to fund my lavish lifestyle (not). My local lady who deals with my issues  was actually the one who filled out the activity staement and submitted it and low and behold I got it. I am still in shock...waiting to see what happens now as I am about to commence fulltime work and have been told I was be allowed to have 50 hours per week.....

Oh chick, I am sorry...it is so hard when all you want to do is get somewhere. what are you studying if you don't mind me asking?
Are there any scholarships avaliable from your uni? or through any professional bodies? I only just found out that I could have accessed funds as a third year nursing student....PPPFFFTTTTT!
Mind you, I am now moving back to Brisbane, I had to move home to get some support whilst finishing my degree (hell hole for 12 months) and there is no help. I just want to move and re-settle my child so that I can start work and make our lives peaceful.

I need to check that out hey. I hate asking for help:mad:. The thing is I don't really fit any criteria I can see on the scholarship thing so I never ended up handing them in in my 3rd year. Maybe I should this time around:mad:. Plus I failed subjects and never bothered to tell them that I was a mental mess last year.
I am just angry. Luckily I've figured out why. World Vision (I thought I had cancelled it:mad:) took out money when I had no money in there so the bank decided to take that out and put a big fee on top of it:mad:.

Call AS SOON as their lines open. Even a few minutes before. If you call early, (or go IN as soon as they open), it's easier to get through! :)

I don't know but it sounds like centrelink MAYBE have made an error and put in a particular amount.
Obviously this is lower than what you normally receive.
Have you received a statement from your bank or can you check your last transactions over the phone?:hugs:
It is very frustrating when you need money and they underpay you.
I hope u get it sorted.

Well so far it's 280.14 + 575.80 minus rent. So far it's adding up if you count the fee by the bank:mad:.
Also, does anybody know if you get any tax back from World Vision if you are on PPS?
And I really need to get the return from DS C&K as well.
:chillpill::chillpill::chillpill:taking a couple of pills to calm me down.

You'd have to read the bank's policy on that. Or justcall and ask them.

Oh really, fill the kids up on red cordial, take a stroll down to Centrelink around 10 - 11 and let them go nuts! Think my two printed off about 500 jobs when we went last time - and I was trying to give money back! (Not that you can even do that without it being difficult)
Really sorry to hear you are getting the royal run around! But you will have more success if you are the one that remains cool!
