How did you pick your wedding date and why?
We went with significant meaning St Patrick's Day is a special day for us so we pick 17 March 2002 for our wedding day :valentine: our first born son one of this middle names is Patrick!
I was mega paranoid about having a 'rainy' wedding day, and also I am a frog who feels the cold, but my husband doesn't. We wanted a day where he wouldn't sweat to death in his suit, I wouldn't freeze in my dress and it wouldn't be raining! :p
My Dh spent ages on BOM website and nerdily studied the weather pattern of the days in the particular month we were wanting to be married from the early 1900s :o.
So the date was no particular significance for us, BUT,.... it was a glorious day with no rain, I didn't freeze and he didn't swelter!

I chose other as : we chose the month because it is such a nice time of the year IMO.
The actual day we chose was either the 6th(my choice) or the 13th (DH choice). we paper rock, scissored for that and I won. What I didn't realise was it was the date of the Rugby World Cup Final & DH is a massive Rugby fan.
He didn't complain at all as he said that what we were doing on that day far outweighed a silly game

It was the exact date (and same day of the week) that we first met. Before getting married we always celebrated this date as an anniversary so wanted to continue with it.

Same here! :D
It's also a long weekend, so we always get to go away just around our anniversary.
But maybe i should have factored the weather in... it rained on our beach wedding! :rain:

Its good luck! It comes from several cultures mainly from the Hindu with the idea that a wet knot is harder to untie. Since marriage is often referred to as tying the knot. Rain was also a symbol of fertility to agricultural societies, since rain restored and maintained the wellness of crops. Crops were peoples main source of stability and income so it was thought to guarentee a long happy marriage!

We got Married on the 8th of October It was one of 2 dates left for us at that time of year at the venue we wanted!
It didn't rain on our special day but it was rather hot and sticky wonder if a sweaty knot is like a wet one???
It was also the 4th anniversary of DH Joining the Navy so he has no excues for forgetting
We chose 01/11 as I wanted to get married before the end of the year, and it was easy to remember, and a day the celebrant was available.

Initally (we had a small split for a few weeks and changed our mind on the date) it was exactly 2 years to the date that DF proposed.

We got married ont he 7th April 2007. It was hte first Saturday after DH's divorce came through on the 31st March.
It is now a significant date cause DS2 was born the night before our first wedding anniversary.:valentine:
We chose ours as it was the first weekend after daylight savings kicked in (living in Sydney at the time) and our reception venue was on the water so wanted that extra hour of daylight to enjoy where we were.

I picked the 14th of March this year, as it was out 18 month anniversary of beginning dating. But.......... DH married his stupid ex wife on that date in 1998, and he said no way! Which I understood, so I just went for the next weekend, the 21st. Best day of my life so far! :valentine:
