So did you wear your mother's dress at your wedding?

My mum no longer has her dress but I remember what it looked like and is very dated now.

Nope - it was beautiful but my mum was about a size 4 when she got married to my dad.

Its funny but the style of my Mums wedding dress was just starting to come back in fashion when I got married. I remember my Mum looking at a outfit for herself and slapping herself on the head because she thought it was far too much like what my grandmother wore to her wedding lol But no I didn't wear Mums. Didn't think the marriage brought any happiness and she was like a size 2-4 by todays standards and our colourings are very different (she is very olive whilst I am very fair)

I would have liked to wear something of my grandmothers but she got married during the depression and didn't wear a dress. There aren't even any photos of the event :(

No but I would have loved to - from the photos I have seen it was a beautiful vintage style gown that would not have looked out of fashion 3 years ago. Unfortunately it was destroyed in a house fire when I was 2.

No, my mums wedding dress was very lacy and frilly, not my cup of tea at all. She was tiny when she got married (even being 40 weeks pregnant) so it wouldnt have fit me anyway.

I'm keeping my wedding dress for my DD, it's very boofy with lots of tulle and a fairy skirt so by the time she gets married I'm she'll think it's gross  but she can always cut it up and do something with it. I was thinking about getting it made into a gown for her to wear at her naming day but I'm not sure how much that would cost.

I said yes, but I only wore it around the house as a child when I was playing dress up.

My mum was tiny , it wouldn't have fitted me even if I wanted to wear t.

I was 8 mths pregnant when I got married and am size 16... my Mum is size 8.

I might have been able to wear it on my arm but that's about it.

My Mum was a size 4 and 5'. I'm a size 14-16 and 5'3''.

I think maybe I could have fit into it when I was about 9.

I don't really like the style of it, and I don't really plan on having an actual wedding when I get married anyway... so even if I could fit into it, I probably wouldn't wear it. Plus, it's not lucky or anything. She and Dad divorced. Don't need that bad karma washing over to me. :p

I have asked my mum's permission to take certain parts of her wedding dress and add it to my own. That way my dress has a part of hers but it's still different.

Won't be doing that for years though LOL.

I had no hope of wearing my Mum's wedding dress. She was a size 8 when she married my Dad, I'm a size 18, mainly for big b@@bies, around the waist I'm only a 12-14. Plus I HATED my Mum's wedding dress. It had sleeves and big poofy shoulders. YUCK! :barf:
