Hi, all not sure if this is the right section to put this feel free to move it mods.

I was thinking about this the other day and was wondering if anyone else on here had loved ones in jail.
My two brother are currently in jail, one has been in since i was 11 years old. When I was younger if my friends parents found out this information many of my friends were not allowed to go to my house or really even allowed to hang out with me anymore.
Anyway I just wanted to start a support thread for anyone else who may have loved ones in jail, and wish to talk about it without being judged.

:hugs::hugs::hugs:I think people are worried about telling these things. There is a lot of judgemental peopel out there and they don't want to be judged I guess.

You're definately not alone:hugs:

I had an ex-boyfriend go to jail while I was dating him! Didn't last that long once he was sentenced (he was a drug dealer but was done for assult, gave some guy brain damage )

I also have an uncle on my mother's side who went to jail for growing pot. Must have been a fair bit!

I wouldn't call either of these "loved ones" but Ijust wanted you to know you're not the only person who's known someone who went to jail!

It must be very hard for you.. :hugs:

That's a nice thread to start - I am a Parole Officer and it always makes me sad to see the families on the outside - they obviously suffer alot too but people often forget them.

No loved ones in jail

My son's bio father has spent a fair bit of time there, but he is not in my life through his own choice.. he thinks he is unworthy to be a father.

My Uncle had schizophrenia and was in more than out before he died.

my ex-BIL spent some time in there drug related...

i have known people in jail.. but not currently.

No reflection on you Mummabear86..

we cant control everyone and I am sure no one would want anyone they loved in a cage...

poo happens !

There should have been an "other" on the poll.

My Dad has been in jail.

I was 15 when he was sentenced. He was a problem gambler and stole money ($50,000) from his place of employment to keep up the gambling.

Funny thing is that his place of employment had all of their staff meetings at the local casino:rolleyes:, and they wonder how gambling begins:no: (not saying it's an excuse).

He was in jail for a while (Maximum prison, then low security) and finished out his sentence under house arrest.

The only time we suffered was when the initial story broke and we had cameras staked out the front of the house and journalists calling all the time. The article that was published was full of fabricated lies and made Dad out to be something he wasn't. (the try to add more to the story then what was the truth).

It never bothered me too much that he was / went to jail. I think it showed us that if you do the crime, you do the time.

We learnt a lesson through Dad's mistake and that was more beneficial then anything.

No i don't. But i have known someone who had a really tough time because her husband was in prison.

She was a member on prisontalk.com and she said it helped heaps. There are people from all over the world, but there is a section just for Australian's where you can chat to other people going through the same thing, and even people with loved ones on the inside who know her loved ones. It was a good support system for her!
