Hi All,

Well I am sure that this is the same for everyone here and I do apologise if I am saying the same thing but I guess I just need to let it out and hopefully get some ideas or clues as to how I progress.

I am 37 with two beautiful sons and now am TTCing for a 3rd. After much discussion with DP we agreed in January that we would try up and August and if we didnt fall pregnant by then then that would be it. Due to money issues and age, etc it was a compromise we both accepted and honestly I didnt think I would have issues falling pregnant.

How wrong I was!!

Its been 6 cycles now and nothing. I got AF today and am pretty upset.

Just cant figure out why its not working, especially as I have done it twice before! DS1 was on the first go and DS2 was on the 4th cycle.

This one just doesnt want to work!

I have done the 21 day progesterone test and I have ovulated which is great. But I now only have 2 more goes for it to work.

I chart, I do the cervical mucus thing. I am almost 100% positive on which day I ovulate and we BD like made for 4 or 5 days prior but its just not working!

Admittedly I am overweight but was with both boys (same weight to be exact) and yes I am 37. And I probably shouldnt drink as much as I do (2 glasses of wine per night) but other then that I am as healthy as an ox, I eat well maybe not getting enough sleep but with 2 young ones who does?

Anyway...does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to improve my chances?

I dont want to go down the IVF, etc path....but some tips to help it catch this time.

I have two weeks before we need to start BDing so thanks in advance! :D

Hi , I know your frustration , DH & I have been trying for a third since Oct 2008 , I've had 5 pregnancies , all happened without any effort , now it's fast approaching a year & I have no idea why I haven't fallen. DH spermies are fine & I know I ovulate :hair:.

Have you tried OPK's? , when you had your 21 day test what did the doc say?? could they offer you any advice??

Hi Michelle!
I also share your frustration. We fell pregnant with our daughter within three months of trying... then it took 17 months to fall pregnant again, which sadly resulted in a missed miscarriage. I know we can get pregnant, so I'm not heading down the assisted conception path. However, I did turn to alternative therapies to help us out. Firstly, I believe stress is a big factor, so you have to try and eliminate some of the stress... even if you add a massage every fortnight into your routine. We also had acupuncture (both DH and I) at the time of ovulation, and I also took Chinese herbs. I had no idea if it would work or not, but was getting desperate after trying for so long and so we agreed to try it for three months - and by the third month it had worked! Somehow the acupuncture and herbs really changed my cycle. My periods were lighter, I didn't get any cramping, and I had more obvious changes in CM.
I don't know if it will help you, but I just wanted to share my story with you as I know how you are feeling. We desperately want more children, and I really don't want DD to be an only child, but sometimes nature doesn't play along.
I honestly wouldn't recommend going down the assisted conception path... you obviously have no trouble making babies... and I wouldn't worry too much about your age as plenty of women have babies who are older than you. But I would be keeping check on your health - both mind and body... and give yourself time. I think you are putting too much pressure on yourself by setting a deadline... scrap that and just see what happens.
BEST OF LUCK! :hugs:

Thanks ladies....its nice to know that there are others out there that are experiencing the same thing as I....as much as I dont want to wish it on anyone else!!

Vajay - I got the results back from the 21days test and its said that I definatley ovulated and have the days of ovulation correct. All she could say was keep trying as there is nothing I am doing wrong. So its nice to know that I am ovulating and have the days right.

I have tried OPKs but they dont seem to work for me. Maybe its because I'mnot doing it right? I dunno. I have been thinking of getting a Maybe Baby but they are about $60 so I'm not sure.

BabyJoy - its so hard isnt it! The doc has offered to send me to a specialist for Clomid but like you I dont want to head down that path yet.

I was doing a bit of a search on here and have had a few references to Maca Root which sounds great so I am going to give that a go. Apparently its meant to help raise progesterone levels, etc. From the research I have done it sounds pretty good so we will see!

I have thought about acupuncture, etc and not averse to trying things like that. Its just really organising myself to do it but I do see your point about the pressure....stress doesnt help does it!

But thanks again ladies....fingers, toes, etc crossed for us all for that elusive :bfp:
