Mastitis?

Hi all

I have had a few flu like symptoms lately, with itchy nipples. My darling girl has been pulling off very hard and i am wondering if it is aminor form of mastitis? anyone had this?

I would get to the Doctor ASAP if you are having flu like symptoms. I have had mastitis 3 times during the last 15 weeks since DS arrived in the world. I also have thrush & a staph infection in my breasts so can tell you itchiness is a sign of either of these two horrible things. But flu like symptoms is definently mastitis can also include night sweats. Best of luck - hope you get on top of this asap.

Itchy nipples can be thrush or even letdown, but flu symptoms definitely can be a sign of mastitis.

I would get yourself off to a GP ASAP, before you get worse, mastitis is painful as is nipple thrush :hugs:

I always had a really sore breast, once it was red hot and felt like a ten ton rock. The flu symptoms came after that but it never hurts to have that script ready when you need it as you can go down hill really, really fast. After B'feeding 2 bubbies, by the time I got to number 3 I was able to recognise the signs straight away and when to the fruit shop for my cabbage leaves and hopped into a really hot shower and massaged until I couldn't stand it anymore. I never needed antibiotics when i did all this. Antibiotics always seem to effect my babies and made them cranky. Good luck and well done for feeding your baby, it can be hard work.

I had a lumpy and sore boob the other day.....I managed to massage it out and felt fine.

Then yesterday I started getting a very sore throat and now my nose is snuffly and can feel the cold coming and have a headache.

Is it just a cold or minor mastitis?? Wouldn't I have a fever if so?

Could be mastitis also, but usually you get the joint aches and pains and your lymph nodes will swell. I would be careful and if you feel worse head to the GP, your boob may even seem really hot before you feel a lump.
