View Full Version : Cloth questions
My husband and I absolutely love cloth nappies! We're just starting to stock up on them now and we're still trying to get our head around all the different ypes, brands etc - very confusing to begin with!
So far, we've got 1 Rumpster AIO, 1 Ellas House Hemp bumhugger, 1 Huggle night nappy by Minki and 1 Bits for Bots fitted.
We've come to the conclusion that AIOs would be the best to use.
I'm just wondering if it's safe to use AIOs all the time?
Also, I'd be interested in hearing which your favourite ie tried and tested AIOs are. Actually, I'd love to hear what all your fav cfitted loth nappies are!!
Last question sorry- how many cloth nappies (and in what sizes) do you have?? We've got no idea how many to buy. The 4 we've got so far are all smalls.
Thanks so much :D

My boy was 9lb 2oz at birth, but he's a good eater and is putting on weight really quickly, so he's outgrown lots of his small nappies already!!
The problem with fulltime AIO use is that they do take longer to dry (although you can get quick-dry AIO's). I love the Honeyboy! from Cherub's Kiss. Also itty bitty nappies are trim and super-absorbant apparently. For nighttime the word on the street is that there are 2 fabulous ones: Sandman night nappy and VBSN, Very Baby Simply Nights.
I'll PM you ;)

I can't see any reason why you can't use AIO's all the time. You might need extra boosting at nighttime. They might not last the night.
I have a couple AIO's and I have to say my ones from Erica's Nappies are excellent. Really, really beautifully made. Anything from there is great. I have got a Honey Boy AIO from Cherub's Kiss on order and they are also meant to be very good. The lady is about to have another baby so she isn't selling at the moment.
I have decided (after 9 months) that I am a fitted nappy with a good cover kind of girl.
For a good basic fitted nappy that will last you ages, from birth to whenever you can't go past the Baby Beehinds. Easy for sausage manlike fingers to use. Just great.
As for how many......I started off with 15 BB. Keep in mind little breastfed babies poo every nappy change. The more you have the less often you have to wash. I never thought I would hate to admit it, but I have become a nappy freak. I just keep on buying them and using them.

My favourite nappy is the Eenee nappy.
When bub is born you use the Eenee snibs (so no pins or velcro etc) and you put a flat nappy as the absorbant part inside the snib.
Then you upgrade to the actual Eenee pants/cover (what ever you want to call them) they come in 2 sizes 0-2 and size 2-4. So that will take you through to when toilet training begins, they also make toilet training pants etc too!;)
So with the Eenee pants/covers you get a flat nappy and fold it into a pad shape and place inside the cover of the Eenee. I find this system to work really well for me especially when it is really rainy etc as you can have a larger stockpile of flat nappies (cause they are soooo cheap, and available everywhere) that even though the covers may be wet you still have nappies available to use and that are incredibly quick drying!;)

I personally like pocket nappies as they are quick drying & easy to stuff to whats needed for bubs. Guess thats why ive steered away from AIO's but many have great success with them & it sounds like you love yours so i cant see why you couldnt use them all the time.
I have 4x Eenees, 15x Green Kids, 2x Baby Bloomers & 4x Swaddlebees.
My Green Kids have been my fav's so they have been run ragged & still holding up wonderfully ! They have been a great buy because they are a one size pocket nappy so are fast drying & being one size very suitable
I have to say i like all the above & am glad i did my research etc before investing in them.
Im going to get some more Baby Bloomers as Boof has almost grown out of all his Greens as he is a big boy. I also want to make a few myself so cant wait for that.
We find the Swaddlebees are great for being out & about as they are very trim etc so dont take up much room in the nappy bag.
Invest in some good hemp boosters is the best advice i can give you as they are fantastic just to use through the day but are the best for overnite & for long trips in the car.
Im also hoping that now we need larger nappies i can also grab some Sandra Stuffables & maybe try out a few others .... Or should i say im hoping i can use this as my excuse to DP as to why i should be allowed to get a few different types hehehe.
Its definately an addiction its terrible :o

Like the other ladies have said AIO do take longer to dry.
My suggestion would be trying out a few different styles to see what you like best and also what fits your baby best.
I have AIO's, PUL pockets & Fleece Pockets (which I stuff with hemp inserts and at times microfibre), Sherpa fitteds, Bamboo fitteds, Hemp fitteds etc.
With the fitteds I use a few different covers (PUL, Procare, Wool covers).
There are plenty of options out there. Have a look at the Nappycino website as they have lots of reviews on there. Feel free to PM me if you want to ask any questions about what I use. I love using the cloth nappies on my daughter and have purchased from plenty of different people.
Good luck and Yes they are very addictive!!
Yup AIO's are fine to use all the time.
We like Keester Kovers from Possum Pouches and HoneyBoy from Cherub's Kiss, as neither have PUL in them, just good quality fleece for the water resistant layer.
Yes AIOs can take longer to dry - but they are very dad friendly. We personally couldn't get pockets to work for us, too many leaks - but lots of ladies love them. You really need to try a few and see what works for you, and your bubs shape.
Smalls generally fit to between 4 - 6 mths depending on bubs size, and most babies will be able to use the medium through to toilet training - of course, it does depend on the nappy, but there are one size fitteds around
Other brands we really like are
Erica Nappies - very baby and their own brand
Baby Beehinds
Cute tooshies - cuddlebuns one size and cute tooshies own one size side snap - especially the bamboo velour just lush lush
Pixiepants - her velour ones
Pookey Pockets - but I like the fitted ones, we are useless when it comes to pockets :banghead:
Bits for bots bamboo's
Cheers
Holy moly- I think I have a lot more reading to do before I get my head around all this nappy talk!!
Thanks so much for giving me an idea of brands. I'll spend the rest of the night googling them now hehehe!
Thanks so much!
