Hello everyone.
I just wanted to find out some more info about the cars/modes of transport we all use for our large families.
We brought a Honda Oddessy when we made the decision to have #4 (the one from the ad where the parents are making out in the front with the back full of kids! ). I love it, it has seating for 7 of us but still has the look of a station wagon. Our eldest is only 7 so all of our kids are in booster seats of some sort. I know I can comfortably fit four wiht their seats in the car, but not sure about number 5 (working Dh already  ).
Would love to hear from all about what u drive your bundles around in and how it works for you

Just wondering what the boot room is like in it. Does it comfortably fit a pram and the extras that go along with a few kids?

We bought the Mazda MPV - very happy with it. Has 5 individual seats in the rear with 5 anchor points, all of which are on the ground, so no straps going over passengers heads, and room for 5 car seats or boosters if we need too. (we have already tested the three in a row side by side and they work well) Each seat comes out if you need it, it is a V6, is very comfortable to drive, and has good driver and passenger vision.

We just went & bought the Toyota Prado to fit in our growing family (#4 due in Nov) I really like it & we can fit 3 Car seats in the middle seats & DD1 will sit in the 3rd row of seats on a booster (no anchor point, though). We love the oddessey but we didnt think it would be able to accomodate all our things...are littlies are quite close in age - 4,2.5 & 15mths so we take quite a bit with us...plus our pram is a Bertini & HUGE & i really didnt want to buy another pram to fit LOL We only picked it up last week or so & we love it!!!!

We have two kids of our own and do foster care we just brought the new kia grand carnival and i love it has 8 seats. We have three car seats in the middle and a booster in the back and we have the other 2 seats folded up so i have room for the pram and shopping. The price was good as well only $35,000 hope that helps :)

We bought a Toyota Avensis last week. Seats 7, the anchor points are on the back of the seats so no straps going over people's head...my fave feature...there is an extra boot. So when you have all 7 seats up you pull up the carpet in the boot (it's like a lid) and there's a whole extra space for groceries etc. The woman we bought it off has triplets and she used to fit a double pram in with all 7 seats up and this space.
I went from an Echo to an Avensis (we are getting ready for a large family and only wanted to upgrade once) and I find it easy to park and drive...I've never driven a big car and was worried about that!
A lot of people haven't heard of an Avensis so just thought I'd throw it out there.

I find the boot space more than adequate. I carry around stroller and still manage to get all my groceries in the boot. A good thing about the car is that each of the seats can be folded down individually so I can fold down on of the seats at the back if I need the extra room. We really like it, it suits us and I must admit that I have always been partial to Honda's.

We used to have a tarago (very easy to park, loved it), but we now have a landcruiser, and love it too, but its alot wider than the tarago, and not so easy to park, and the turning circle isnt as sharp and good as the tarago.

DH wouldnt get the parado though, as they looked smaller and as he calls them yuppy 4x4's  but they are more fuel efficient (coz they're smaller and not as heavy and all)

boot space is small though in the LC, but the back row does fold up if needed, we are all only in it when I take the kids to school anyway, or for a weekend visit to friends, but thats not all too often right now.

Dont like the Carnivals, they are too um I dunno, tinny like, and I found dont handle as well as the taragos. I like the look of the Honda Oddessy, but they were only 7 seaters, so not an option for us (we needed the 8 seats!)

I do miss my tarago a quite a bit actually

We have a camry and when we finish paying it off in Nov. ,
we plan to save for a much bigger car.
We are thinking of the best car for the long term.
We have 3 children and plan to have 5 or 6.
we are thinking of a Tarago or maybe a 4wd

we have a kia carnival. i like the fact that we can comfortably fit me and dh, our 14, 13, 11, and 10 month old plus enough luggage to go away for a weekend in it. (including a portacot and pram and esky).

i would love to upgrade it to a grand carnival but can't afford to at the moment. the back seat can fit 3 adults but is a little squishy for a longer journey (more than 1 hour) the 3 older kids are comfy in the back tho. another great feature is that i can walk through from the front seat to the back back seat without getting out of the car. useful when needing to feed the baby while it raining outside. just pull over and switch seats without getting wet.

the seats all move forward and back and you can even swap the back bench seat over with the 2 bucket seats in the middle if you only have a small family and want more storage room. all the back and middle seats come out. so you can use it for moving furniture.

i like it. and we haven't had any mechanical problems with it at all and it was made in 2001.
