Hi, as mentioned i am a first timer ttc ... hubby and i have been ttc about 6 months or so now (since xmas 08)
i know i shouldnt expect miracles straight away, but you know how it is trying not to think about it! :o)
anyway, i am taking my vitamins daily and staying healthy, no alcohol, dont smoke etc... i guess my question is should i get any pre bub check ups with a doc/gyno? Ive been told docs wont see me till we have been ttc for a year or so... so am i just supposed to wait and keep at it in the mean time then? or is there anything i can do to help the process along?
any advice/pointers would be great
thanks in advance to any replies! :)

Hi happyluvy,
Great that you are looking ahead and being proactive. You can absolutley go and ask for a check up from your doctor or gynae. Many doctors these days are very happy to assist you with preconception testing.
Some of the things you may like to check at this point are silent infection and possible silent STDs (which can delay conception and cause fertility problems in some cases); you also want to make sure you partner gets his sperm checked. In addition be sure to get your thyroid function checked as well as you hormones (LH, FSH, oestrogen, prolactin, testosterone and SHBG on day 2 of the cycle and progesterone on day 21).
You may also like to subscribe to my Natural Fertility Booster newsletter, which gives lots of information to prospective parents on increasing the odds of creating a healthy baby. You will find the details on my website.
I hope this helps.
