View Full Version : Single Parents - how much do you spend on childcare
Just wondering how much you spend on childcare.
Mine will be $100 p/w but I guess you get 50% back.
Do you use childcare for work purposes only or time on your own also
I payed $60 a week for 5 days. I used it for work purposes.

ds goes 2 days a week
without ccb it would cost me $244 a fortnight
but with ccb it costs me $68 a fortnight
i use it only for work purposes
I have JET so $2.40 a week for 2 days
$7.35 per week..... that's for one day, and I use it to get study done for the most part....
gee some of you get it really cheap  wonder why the big difference as I am on 100% maybe the amount of hours.
I also am on 100%, but I use FDC which is a cheaper alternative for the most part....

I pay around $30 a week for both kids to go two days a week.
I use daycare for many reasons.
My son started young so I could work then when I stopped working to have my daughter he hated staying home - missed his friends so much that I put him back in two days a week.
My daughter has only started in the last few months and I will admit for a good month my daycare days were nothing but a break for me (single with no support from father - no family or friends withing 3 hours so never getting a break) now that I am in a better place emotionally I will be using daycare as study days - looking into this jet thing at the moment
I pay $70.66 a week for 2 days. then get half of that back at the end of each quarter.
I applied for JET today so hopefully i will get approved for that and pay a lot less.
I use it for work purposes as just got a new part time job 2 days a week but in the 3mths i had between my last job and this i still kept DD in childcare.

Here is a fact sheet on it:

what is JET:confused:
Debster - check out my thread regarding JET that i posted in this section last night.
I called and got a referral to the JET assistance program today, should find out if i am accepted next week.
Kindy so $600 a term. Very cheap:yes:. :smiliedance::smiliedance::smiliedance:So works out to be $50 a week. I love paying bills.
I send DS there for one and a half days for socialising and to give me a break.
It works out at $12 a day, after the rebates and quarterly refunds. Which compared to what I'd be paying in the UK is amazing. Our childcare is fabulous. I'm very lucky.

I only pay about $1.50 a day thanks to JET because i'm studying full time :)
I'm on 100% & I pay $126.50 per week before the 50% rebate. That's 5 full days in a child care centre.

Yeah I spend more than the majority of people here.
I think it depends how much the daycare centre charges in the first place (which changes depending on where its located/what they supply etc) and how much the person earns for however many days.
I personally would pay even more than I already do for the place my son is currently in. He loves it there and I feel safe, confident and happy with leaving him there.

i get 100% rebate and i pay $12 a day, he goes 2 days a week.
I use those days to catch up on everything like cleaning, shopping. Sometimes I use that day to catch up on sleep or to just relax.
I don't think i would be a sane mother without these days to myself
