Hi, just curious if there is anyone else out there that has had the same prob.
Indy is now 6 months old but when pregnant i had really really bad morning sickness. i practically stayed in my bedroom and didnt see daylight for a good 2 months.
Anyways, there was a few certain things that would really trigger MS
IE: certain smells, my laundry detergent (just wanted to throw up when i smelt clean clothes) my deoderant (impulse) and other things like ciggerette smoke, coffee, coke, ice coffee and certain foods.
Now the weird thing is, im only just getting over it still!
i havent been able to eat certain things (EG: Hungry jacks, i tried a steak baggette once when i was pregnant) spewed it up afterwards and even now when i think of hungry jacks or even look at the logo makes me queasy!!
Ive changed deoderant coz when i smell the one i used to use it brings back memories of MS!!
i guess im the only weird one!! but just things from that time brings back my MS memories and make me feel ill!
Blessed Mum

 Dannii,
No you are not alone. I was exactly the same with both of my pregancies. Ds's was better with DD the only difference was it lasted up until 8 months & came back on & off for the last 3 weeks. And yes the smells still trigger that revolting feeling in me. DH wonders why I'm not ready to go for #3 yet

Hi Danni,
I know exactly how you feel. The first food in each pregnancy that I am sick with I go off forever. With my first pregnancy I ate carrots and then was really sick and I still don't eat carrots, that was four years ago. With my second pregnancy it was the same with toasted sandwiches and I still can't touch them. I am still waiting to be sick with this pregnancy but I am only 7 weeks, lets hope it doesn't happen :fingerscrossed: Hope you get over your horrible feelings soon and it all goes back to normal.

I know exactely what u mean, though mine was a little strange, after i had DD I couldn't wear the dressing gown that i had worn when suffering the most terrible M/S for 5 months!!
Though MS was good to an extent, as a smoker b4 DD's conception, i would vomit at the smell on ciggerette smoke on ne one also coffee and the thought of coke made me want to hurl!

Dannii you are describing my pregnancies exactly. I was so neurotic about smells, and I would start heaving when I saw a hungry jacks or maccas ad. I went totoally off meat couldn't stand the look of it, the smell of it cooking etc. I felt ill to brush my teeth and the chlorine smell from the water in the toilet made me vomit. One day I vomited 11 times and just wanted to die!!
I only got better after 20 weeks but very slowly, still couln't stomach meat for a long time. The only thing that made me feel a little better was icy drinks like slurpees. But only temporary relief.
You are not weird at all and I am sorry you had to go through this as I can only describe it a miserable. It was months after my babies were born that I could stomach tea, coke or meat again so it must be fairly normal.

Sounds pretty normal to me!
Although I didn't suffer as bad morning sickness as you did with my first pregnancy, I still can't bear the smell of home made chicken soup - even thinking about it makes me gag :barf: .
If only I felt that way about something unhealthy like chocolate cake, it might have helped me to lose a few kilos  .

I thought I was the only one! I spent the first half of my pregnancy overseas and a few nights ago happened to be looking at real estate in Scotland & chanced upon the house where I spent my early pregnancy for sale...just scrolling through the estate agent's pics made me want to hurl...
I couldn't eat broccoli until my baby was nearly 3 months old...and feeling cold brought back all the old feelings (as it was winter in Scotland when I got pregnant)...certain outfits, even photos of me during that time...smells, of course, are the worse...
Laundry detergent didn't give me morning sickness like it did an earlier poster - it was actually a craving...by the time I got to 8 months I had to be practially restrained from eating laundry detergent...I kid you not...I was obsessed with it and could only compensate (without doing harm to myself or bub!) by eating Rennies soft chews that came inthe Pregnancy freebie bag - I ate nearly a packet a day and I think I may have induced my labour eating them...
It's crazy what those hormones will do! :barf:

Eww, you have reminded me of morning sickness :barf:.
Yes, while I was pregnant certain smells would make me feel even more sick than what I did. Like you I pretty much didn't see day light until I was 18 weeks pregnant (except for doctors appointments and ultrasounds).
The smell of the toilet and toilet cleaner used to make me sick! I would be getting something from under the sink and could smell the toilet, I could clean it and could still smell it! Also, after I touched a door handle my hands smelt like metal and I hated it, it made me feel so sick! I also couldn't stand the smell of cooking in oil.
The song "Don't phunk with my heart" was out when I had morning sickness, and sometimes when I hear it I think :barf:.

You are certainly not alone.
I went right off cappucinos when I had morning sickness with DD#1. She'll be 16 in January, and I STILL can't stomach them!!
I related my plight to DH's aunt (who is in her 70s), and she said that she was right into oysters before she fell pregnant with her first child, went off them when she had nausea while pregnant, and she STILL can't eat them.

Dannii,
You certainly are not alone. I will never eat a sausage roll again after having one (and bringing it back up) when I thought I was getting over my MS.
With DS1 I drank (and returned back up again) litres of apple juice, now the thought of it makes me physically ill.
I had Hypermesis with DS1 so anything I ate was quickly returned back to the loo! I took me a long time to get over that. Second pregnancy with DS2 I was on medication for MS from the moment I found out I was pregnant ( on OB's advice ) thanks to the miracles of maxalon my MS was not so bad second time round ..... I still however, can not touch ANYTHING I ate or drank during those horrible days :)

I think you're normal :D
I went right off capsicum when I was pregnant with DD - she is 20 months old now and I still hate it and pick it off everything. I can't even stand if the flavour is left behind!
The other things that were a problem I'm ok with now, but I don't think I'm ever getting over the capsicum thing.

My DS is now 2yo and the smell of the shampoo I used during early pregnancy still turns my stomach! Probably because I was only ever sick in the shower for some strange reason. Last time my Mum visited she brought that brand with her and I had to ask her not to use it during her stay.
This pregnancy I have developed an aversion to showering because of the smells. I found some 100% additive free soap this week which is helping. Although must wash my hair sometime soon! Who cares when you can't muster up the energy to leave the house due to all day queasiness.
:fingerscrossed: in 2 to 4 more weeks and I should be feeling a bit better.

TOOTHPASTE!!!!!!!!! erg. HATED toothpaste while I had MS.
I still really really struggle with having to brush my teeth now.
But for two months everytime I did I would throw up straight after I did.
Also majority of what I ate in those two months of MS I now can not and will not eat, Eg. Multigrain Bread, cuppa-soups, sayo's, fruit bars etc.
As for smells, I didn't wear deoderant for two months I think. haha Didn't matter much as I didn't leave my room! or bed! Even made my DP stop wearing spray on stuff and had to switch to roll on non smelling stuff.

I felt ill to brush my teeth...
I still gag when brushing my teeth (not really something I can avoid!) It's the only thing that made me vomit with both...
