Does anyone have a great recipe for a bread dip? (Unsure what its called, but you buy a huge round bread bun, take out the middle and put a filling into the bun, and the bread you took out you dip into the filling)

If you can understand what I'm saying, I would like to get a recipe, I had at a party on the weekend, and I absolutely loved it.

Thanks

Hi Here's one

Avocado Cream Dip :smiliedance:

1 White Cob Loaf
2 avocados, finely chopped
6 spring onions, finely chopped
Juice of half a lemon
2 cups of sour cream
Sweet chilli sauce, optional to taste

Method:

Mix dip ingredients well and chill.
To serve, hollow out Cob Loaf, brush the inside with olive oil, bake the Cob shell and the bread taken from inside.
Serve the dip in the Cob shell when cool, using the bread from within to dip.

Yum, there is another one, I will post when I can dig it out

What flavour was the one you had at the party? Cause as mentioned you can have avocado, ham, spinach etc all different flavours. So if you are looking for a paticular flavoured one we might be able to narrow it down for you more!;)

Damper Dip

250g cream cheese
300mls sour cream
small can creamed corn
1 packed cup grated cheese
5/6 shallots
4 chopped bacon rashers
1 round bread loaf

Beat cream cheese until smooth. Add sour cream, creamed corn, cheese, shallots, and bacon. Mix well. Scoop out middle of loaf and place on tray. Add dip mixture. Place in oven for around 40 mins, on 150degrees. Add bread pieces around sides, bake on slow for another 20mins.

I have eaten this and it was scrummy, but haven't gotten around to making it myself yet! Good Luck!

This is the one I do...................not sure if it has been put on or not, but it is always a HUGE hit!!! Easy too!!

Ingredients
250 g philly cheese,
250g sour cream,
6 rashes of bacon (diced),
1 capsicum (diced),
1 large onion (diced).
1 tin creamed corn 310gm.
1 cup tasty cheese (I used light).

Beat the philly cheese and sour cream together.

Fry the bacon rashes, capsicum and onion together until onion is clear.

Mix all ingredients together.

Pull out the inside of a cob loaf. Pour filling into cob loaf. Bake in an oven (180 degrees) for 45 minutes, put on lid and place the bread from the centre of the cob loaf around the outside. Bake for a further 10-15 minutes, serve warm.

500g Bacon
1 large onion
300ml tub sour cream
250g Philly cheese
1 cup tasty cheese shredded
1 cob loaf

Heat oven 180C, chop onion finely and fry with bacon until onion is translucent. Get large bowl and put philly cheese in (cut it up a bit so easier to melt). Add bacon and onion while hot. Pour sour cream on top and mix until philly cheese is melted through, add cheese and stir (you can add finely chopped chives). Cut a lid off the cob, remove bread from centre and add mixture. Bake for about 45min to 1 hour.

This recipe has gotten rave reviews when I have made it, it is soooo yummy!!!

1 Block of Light Philadelphia Cream Cheese

300ml of Sour Cream

1 Packet of frozen Spinach (shredded) (squeeze out the water)

1 Packet of Spring Vegetable Soup

1 Tin of Water Chestnuts, chopped up finely

Spring Onions

Crushed Garlic – 2 teaspoons

2 x Cob Bread

Mix cream cheese, sour cream, spinach, garlic and vegetable soup together. Once mixed add half the spring onions and mix again.

Pull out the center of one of the cob breads and cut into pieces, place pieces around the side of the hollowed out bread. Put dip into the center of the bread and sprinkle remaining spring onions on the top. Cut up the other cob bread and place pieces around the side.
Serve

Can also warm the mongrel dip whilst in the cob breadbasket for a warm version of the same dip.

If you have a food processor make it in that rather than an electric mixer – it is so much easier because you can put the water chestnuts in whole and the food processor cuts them up for you. Also the dip ends up a lot less lumpy in the end.

Enjoy!

DH does one that is super Yummy!

Bacon - about 1/2 kg
Onion - couple
Philly Cheese - one of those 2 packs
Mayo - about 3/4 jar of the home brand stuff
Tomato paste - a jar or so of the home brans concentrate
Cob bread
unsliced white loaf

dice the bacon and onion really small.
Mix the philly, mayo and tomato paste with and electric mixer (it is too hard by hand) then add the onion and bacon
Cut the top of the cob in a shallow circle (like a lid) then pull all its guts out fill the hole with the filling pop the lid back on wrap in Al foil and pop in teh oven for a hour or so (depends on the oven but it really only needs heating through)
Rip the block loaf up into smalish bits for extra scoops and pop them and the guts of the cob onto an oven tray and pop them in the oven until they are a little bit toasty.
And serve :chef: - soooo yummy!
ETA - Oh and if you want to be a bit better fat content wise it works just as well with light mayo and philly!
