Hi,

I've decided on an outdoor 1st b'day party for our little man in August and now have the problem of finding a nice 'family-friendly' spot in Sydney. I've called Bicenntennial Park at Homebush and they charge $150 for 4 hours!! I was hoping the outdoor thing would be a cheaper option!! Putney Park is nice and has a playground etc - but does anybody know of any other nice area within the Parramatta/Hills district of Sydney?

Look forward to your suggestions.

I would just go to the Bicentenial Park anyway. I woulnd't pay the money though, I think that is more for weddings you have to pay the permit etc!;)

Lane Cove River National Park is nice, and you can reserve an undercover picnic spot. Only downside is that your guests will have to pay $9 for entry to the park:thumbsdown:

Check out the national parks website as they have info on other parks too, Cumberland State Forest etc etc...

Our friends did a birthday at Parramatta park, not sure about cost but there was heaps of space and they were even allowed to hire a jumping castle and fairy floss man.

I realize this is an old thread, but in case anyone stumbles upon it and is looking for a picnic spot near Parramatta, or anywhere else, I recommend http://picnicspots.info/map.jsp - you can find family friendly picnic spots all over Australia.
