Am currently breastfeeding but would love to be a surrogate one day. Point me in the right direction for information please if you can.
Thanks
Hi Benjamonkey....
whilst I can't point you in the right direction for advice - there are many many people on here who seem to have loads of information and links for you
All I wanted to say is thank you... for giving people like me who need the help of a surrogate to fulfill our dreams of having a family of our own.... some hope.
In a situation where there is little hope... someone like you gives us just a little ray of light :sunshine:

Hi Benjamonkey,
You give us hope too :)
I'm after some information - on where we can find a surrogate! Is there a place where people can advertise?
My husband and I have been told that surrogacy is the best option (after some heartbreaking losses). We are still young and can use our own eggs etc. We live in Australia though, which means we are not allowed to commission or pay - for this reason we may have to go to the US or Canada.
Does anyone have any information on this, and is there a place where people can advertise/meet each other online in Australia?

Hi All,
I am looking at all of the options with surrogacy here and overseas.
In Australia you are not allowed to pay a surrogate. IT IS ILLEGAL.
There is no place where you can register as a surrogate. There are only foums like this and others and word of mouth for people looking for surrogates and women prepared to be a surrogate.
I am currently looking for someone to help me and my husbacnd in our quest to have a baby.
I had a hysterectomy at 22 which means no way I can have a baby the normal way.
Seeing that there are women on here who are willing to at least investigate the possibility of helping someone like me gives me hope.
It is a journey for all parties invloved. In my case I would be making sure that all costs involved in the pregnancy would be covered by my husband and myself as we would incurr these costs if it was me pregnant.
If there is anyone who would like to discuss any of this further I would be happy to hear from you.
The laws are changing in Victoria which now give the biological parents more rights and you do not have to adopt your own child. Happy to also help people access this information.
Cheers
Benjamonkey, what do you want to know?
I've been a surro mum here in NSW and we're still trying for a sibling. ( Yes STILL! 4 yrs on )
There's no agencies for matching surros to Intended parents in Aus, they're illegal. So are commercial arrangements - no paying for a baby. You can pay the doctors, the clinics, the hospitals, the lawyers etc for their time and skills but not the surro. That's buying a baby. AARRGH - soap box topic for me.
Word of mouth and on line forums are great places to start looking though. You can discuss ideas almost anonymously on line with couples and if you have differences that are not negotiable then although it's heartbreaking it is quicker for all concerned.
It can seem lovely to be close in distance to your couple but a better way to choose is who would you have over to your place for a BBQ.
It's a passionate subject so I tell people to discuss politics or religion first. It doesn't mean you have to agree but you need to be able to discuss sensative subjects without screaming at each other. LOL
As for finding IP's I can put you in touch with lots! I can even try to find my "list" of important questions if you'd like.
( I'll have to adjust my sig - not due in April now. :gloomy: )
