View Full Version : Selective adoption
Is the overseas adoption becoming selective adoption....their has been a high increase in people adopting from overseas people praising brangelina when the child she adopted has a family their who would have prefered her to sposor the child in its own enviroment rather than take the baby away from its family...
We see the likes of jesica simpson and britney spears talking about adoption not to mention others like a new craze sweeping hollywood taking babies out of their enviroment where they have family but just need that help to feed them which they could by sponsoring them...
but on the other hand babies born who have lost both parents in africa remain in orphanages i just wonder if this is all to do with selective adoption like going to the fruit and vege store and picking out the best fruit.....
We have the most inhumane method of Adoption in the World. We cannot select our birthparents if we decide to adopt out. NSW adoption law states the child must be taken home with the birth mother for a minimum of 4 days after the birth (the percentage of people who actually end up adopting after that 8%) Australia has the highest and toughest adoption Laws I've ever studied.
I think people take pity on the third world countries and it is easy to say you could sponsor a child if you knew how much of the sponsorship money gets to them you would be appalled it is only 10 cents in every 1 dollar.
As suggested above maybe you should research your info on a topic before you post something that so many people are struggling to make a decision on or waiting for a decision to be made in regards to this, in regards to the brittany spears and Jessica Simpson I think you should stop reading so many tabloids these people if that is there intention are human, with a heart and are probably just trying to help.
As for Angelina 2 Adoptions both from 3rd world countries and a U.N ambassador who donated over 5 million dollars last year to fund 2 orphanages to get better facilities. Picking the best fruit I don't think so
i dont think this is offensive as im not pointing fingers at anyone who is adopting children this is about babies being taken from their families because they cant feed them and about how babies whose mothers die from hiv and the baby born with aids..who will take these babies?????
thats why i say its selective adoption as someone stated the babies go through a medical examination before they will let them be adopted..how many babies arrive in australia, america or europe who have severe medical defects to be adopted?
Their is no doubt selective adoption goes on....
maybe someone here who has adopted a baby with medical defects from africa or asia and has not parents then i might think less that their is selective adoption going on out their...

America its all about money more you give the more you become an actor as a president"ronald reagan" the man who nearly started 3rd world war with his remarks""dirty stinking commies"
arnold swazneger another actor who when he was younger a member of a nazi youth group...
and now an actor turned un ambassador for donating 5million whose father said she was mentally unstable as she has tried in the past to commit suicide she has a good history for an ambassador the american way is not about caring but how much money you will give up to get where you want ...i have yet to see these hollywood actor pushing a wheel chair with their adopted children....its just not hollywood......you might think im harsh but you dont need the media press to know whats going on in hollywood just ask any australian who has been their to see how false they are.......its not about australia as australians are genuine caring people

To be fair to Julie I think she has raised a reasonable issue here. Before people start having a go at her on the question raised just ask yourselves whether or not you know all about Angelina's adoption etc before you accuse her of pandering to the tabloid press. I bet you all received your information re her sizeable charitable donations from equally questionalble sources. Who says that is accurate, we all know celebrities issue propaganda in order to heighten their profiles. She may have researched more than you know.
She is also a newbie so give the poor girl a break.:shame: I really did not see what was offensive about her first post! Having been on the adoption treadmill myself I think its a reasonable question, even if it would have been better placed elsewhere.

I think part of the point she was trying to make, was that some celebs adopt for the wrong reasons not the right, that they don't do it necessarily for altruistic reasons or because they are desperate for a child, but they adopt to enhance their personal image and in doing that will be selective in their choice of child.
sadly, in this cold hard world people like that do exist. I wish they did not I really do but I have encountered them in my work and it upsets me when I have discovered their true motives. Probably out of the hundreds of families I have been involved with (incl my own) I have come across it no more than twice. Not celebs necessarily but their motives were questionable.
Jackie I wish you all the best in your decision making. :hugs: I am very pro adoption and having an adoptive brother 20 years younger than me, I can't recommend it highly enough. My brother is a gift to us from God and he has given so much to us.
thank you caroline i'm glad someone understands what i mean its not about offending anyone here who is in the process of adoption this is all about whats happening in america"hollywood" brangelina is already saying she is going to adopt again soon will this be the new hollywood craze no doubt these children will be more than just gifted......
the media may not to be trusted but also the magazines have paid millions for their interview so what the magazines say is what they say...
The pope was a nazi well thats new to me but their again im not a catholic and hes not running a country....ronald reagan was and also arnold the "TERMINATOR" who made a film that shot more bullets killed more people per second than any other film that has been made....hes in control of california and a great ambassador to children with his films that promote guns.....
I've moved this to the current affairs section as i think it's more appropriate here.
