Hi  I have been told by my Dr that I have a retroverted uterus and even though she tells me it does not make it harder to get pregnant - I am starting to wonder. Has anyone else got this problem and been able to get pregnant? Any advice would be good :)

I have retroverted uterus and have no problems conceiving. I have always been able to conceive within a month of trying. There are many women out there with retroverted uterus'.

No probs here either. It might depend on "how" retroverted it is though?

I had a retroverted uterus, but that had no effect on ttc as I also had endometriosis which causes infertility.
I think it is fairly common and nothing to really worry about.

I concieved DS in the first month of trying with a retroverted uterus.

It has been longer TTC this time but I'm sure that that isn't the reason why.

I also have a retroverted uterus, and no issues with conception here,

Although I have heard that certain positions can be helpful for women with retroverted uteruses, as it gives a more direct route for the swimmers.

Might be an old wives tale, might also be worth looking in to (as conincidentally it was in those particular possies that I conceived, not that I was concerned at the time;) )

Got one here too!
No probs with #1 she was a suprise!
#2 took a while, we were trying for a year and had 2 losses in that time too as well as falling with Kailah.
I don't think it causes problems conceiving. All I know is that early ultrasounds whilst preg have to be done internally (for me anyways) and when not preg if I have to have a scan they have to do internal scans as they can't get a good view.

I have a severely retroverted uterus. Apparently it juts backwards at a near impossible angle (or so I've been told by more than one surprised Dr!!)

I did have problems conceiving, however it was nothing to do with this. My mum also has a retroverted uterus and she fell PG 4 times - 2 of them by accident!

Also, once you become pregnant, apparently your uterus reverts back to normal once the baby becomes big enough to start stretching the uterus a bit.

I had placenta praevia during my PG which never resolved, and I always wondered whether it may have had something to do with my retroverted uterus. Of course, I have no idea whether this is the case or not, but I did wonder.

I have one, no problem getting pregnant whatsoever.
DD was conceived after one time we were slack with birth control.
This bub was conceived after one planned BD.
Beg to differ about it correcting itself after having a baby though...I was under the impression it stays retroverted, mine has.
Apparently about 20% of women have this, it's not considered abnormal. Just a variation of "normal".
:D

A retroverted uterus can abstain you from falling pregnant depending on the degree I have an anteverted so I can't carry as well as conceive but I have managed with a bit of scientific help to have 2 beautiful bubs and another on the way. It will not disable you from having children but it does make the process that much more difficult.

A retroverted or anteverted uterus cannot be fixed through childbirth, if you were born with it your stuck with it :) Did your doc say to what degree your retroversion was. And explain what that meant?

Retroversion or anteversion dependant on which one you have is just that you uterus opening is not positioned normally and generally either upside down (but can still function normally) or tilted.

Deeper penetration is needed during sex to conceive if you have retroversion or anteversion of the uterus. Hope that helped? :p

Just had another thought on the doctor saying childbirth will correct it......

While you are pregnant it will move into the same position as the pregnant uterus of someone who isn't retroverted. Perhaps this is what he meant.

But after the baby is born it will be retroverted again, as that has to do with the ligaments holding it in place, which aren't moveable.

I have also a retroverted uterus. My doctor and every doctor who I have been to has been very stressed to do a pap etc, in fact every internal has taken ages, and ages, cause of it, but I have 4 kids, np with conceiving here at all.

Here is a tidbit I have for ya!
Fertility issues
It is thought that a retroverted uterus has no bearing on a woman’s fertility.

Retroverted uterus and pregnancy
In most cases, a retroverted uterus doesn’t interfere with pregnancy. After the first trimester, the expanding uterus lifts out of the pelvis and, for the remainder of the pregnancy, assumes the typical forward-tipped position. In a small percentage of cases, the growing uterus is ‘snagged’ on pelvic bone (usually the sacrum). This condition is known as ‘incarcerated uterus’. The symptoms usually occur somewhere between weeks 12 and 14, and can include pain and difficulties passing urine.

Above is true as this is what my Ob told me because my old GP said that because I have retro uterus that if I have a big baby that it can break my back! What da! My Ob said no it's not going to do that at all.

I too have retroverted uterus and conceived. So don't worry I think you'll be right.

I know for a fact pregnancy dose't always cure a retroverted uterus, I've had a bub and min went straight back how it was, retroverted!
