Hi all,
I've had an Ergo for a few weeks, I'm feeling like DD is still too small for it at 10 weeks as she seems SO uncomfortable with her legs spread so far apart. She drops asleep in our other upright carriers without a problem (BB and sleepywrap). I've tried her with legs to the side (Newborn hold) but as she a big bubs for 10wks, this isn't comfy either. Her head support is fine, I think it could just be the legs being split so wide..
I keep hearing the Ergo is the most comfortable (which is why I got it) for all but am not finding this the case at all. Should I be waiting a cple more months? We do heaps of walking during the day- picking up DS from school etc, so I'm keen to get use something that doesn't hurt my back over long periods.Sleepywrap is great, but bubs gets SO hot in there.
Keen to know how others carry a baby this young in Ergo??
Thanks heaps
Carey

Hey

I started putting my DD in the ergo at about 12wks and instead of putting her legs to either side I had them in front of her (like in the foetal position). I can't remember if I read it on here or in the ergo booklet but that is why I did it. I slowly started putting her legs further and further apart and by about 5/6months she was sitting in it normally. We both love the ergo  Hope this helps.

Cheers, Shaz :)

I moved my DD from the HaB to the ergo at 10 weeks (as the ergo is just so much easier to put on), and she didnt have a problem with having her legs spread, however in the HaB she had her legs spread too. We don't have the newborn insert, but thats because DD has been able to support her own head from day 1, so I dont have any experence with that.

I just have to say, I love my ergo! Its the best thing, DD spends most of her day in it (and pretty much all her day sleeps) whilst I can do whatever I need to do. Much easier than trying to carry around a 6kg bub over my sholder all day!

I used the baby insert for DD1. She loved that.

For DD2 I don't use it and just pop her in with her legs all tucked in like she is a little koala hanging onto a tree:)
She loves this.

I have a 5 month old and just bought the Ergo. I must say the bub looks pretty 'uncomfortable' with legs so wide apart, at first. But after a while it's easier to spread them apart. Maybe he's more used to it. I can't imagine putting in a younger baby in that position though, so I totally understand you! Perhaps it's something you have to wait for a couple of months? I find the HAB was great in that first 3-4 months.

I can see bubs is going to love it once bigger..I might try the koala position and if she's still uncomfortable perhaps ill just leave it till then and enjoy that closeness that the sleepywrap (same as HAB) brings
Thx for all your advice!
