What was your fave thing of the day?

When my hubby surprised me at the alter by grabbing a guitar and performing a beautiful song he wrote for me!

What would you have changed if anything?

I would have loved to wear my dream dress, but we couldn't afford nor justify things like that. MIL made my dress and it was beautiful, just not my dream dress IYKWIM

Where did you get married? church? garden? registry office? eloped?

church

Did you have a wishing well or gift registry? or presents?

we had a gift registry

How many bridesmaids did you have? what dresses did they wear?

we had two bridesmaids and two groomsmen. They wore fuscia dresses with a corset on top and an a-line skirt.

What were your table centre pieces?

I can't for the life of me remember lol. My brother had samurai fighting fish as his centre pieces at his wedding, I loved that idea. One beautiful fish in a tall vase swimming around

Did you have a bonbonierrie? if so what was it?

we did, but again I can't remember what it was

What did you invites look like? did you make them or get them made?

I made them. They had a sparkly fuscia paper cover with the invite printed on rice paper inside and love hearts punched out of the cover to see through to the rice paper and tied together with a silver ribbon.

Did you have a real or fake boquet? what flowers were they?

real. DH's aunty was a florist at the time and they went and bought all the flowers early that morning at the markets and then made the bouquets. They were white, light pink and dark pink roses

all in all, we had a very homemade wedding which made it so much more special. I was 19 and DH was 20 and we were both full time students so didn't have the $$ to go all out.. but you know what, I don't think I would have if I could. I'd rather use the money for the honeymoon and/or setting up our home. I love my hubby!!

We got married in Oct 2005 in Brisbane.

What was your fave thing of the day? The relaxedness (is that a word) of the whole day and the fact that our ceremony was short!

What would you have changed if anything? I would have liked Mum to have had more time to get ready - she was so busy getting ne organised that she had about 5 mins while the photographer was taking some pics of me to get dressed, makeup and hair done - she still looked beautiful but it was a bit rushed!

Where did you get married? church? garden? registry office? eloped? In a park on the Brisbane river literally above where our reception was/

Did you have a wishing well or gift registry? or presents? Wishing well - to buy a dining table.

How many bridesmaids did you have? what dresses did they wear? 1 bridesmaid - my sister she wore an Alanna Hill dress in a mint green.

What were your table centre pieces? Flowers and little hanging lanterns from Dusk.

Did you have a bonbonierrie? if so what was it? Tiny noodle boxes with a few Ferrero chocs in them plus the wedding cake was cupcakes (plus a bigger cake to cut) and the went into a bigger noodle box as well.

What did you invites look like? did you make them or get them made? My Uncle designed them - they were sort of like a lettergram (the letters that fold into an envelope) with a RSVP Postcard attached done in a silvery grey with orchids

Did you have a real or fake boquet? what flowers were they? Real orchids and oriental Lillies - Bridesmaid's was a smaller version of mine - all the same flowers and colours.

I thought that everyone could share there magical days with everyone :)

What was your fave thing of the day?

The fact that DH had organised the WHOLE thing and it was all a surprise for me. I knew we were getting married but all the details were kept secret. I met the photographer, the celebrant and helped with the invitation list but that was it. I didn't know where we were getting married until the day.

What would you have changed if anything?
Not a thing.

Where did you get married? church? garden? registry office? eloped?
We were supposed to get married on the beach but depsite DH checking the bereau of meteorology and it not raining on that date in 10 years it bucketed down rain, was freezing cold and had gail force winds so we got married in the surf club.

Did you have a wishing well or gift registry? or presents?
We had a wishing well which we then used to buy ourselves a new bedroom suite

How many bridesmaids did you have? what dresses did they wear?
No bridal party, just me, DH and DD1

What were your table centre pieces?
There were only a couple of tables and they had candles in a glass jar with sand and some star fish etc. We didn't have a sit down meal
Did you have a bonbonierrie? if so what was it?
A what?

What did you invites look like? did you make them or get them made?
My best friend made them (she had a business). I don't remember what they looked like. I only saw one briefly once after the wedding. From memory it was blue and silver and had a little starfish on the top.
Did you have a real or fake boquet? what flowers were they?
No flowers at all.
Anything else you would like to add feel free or even add photos
DH had tons of blue and silver balloons up on the roof in the surf club and it was the best entertainment for all the kids.

my answers in red.

Borntobemummy - the fish idea sounds sooo cool :) and a great idea..i might have to look into that haha

i love the noodlebox idea with ferraro chocs for bonboneirries :D

doubleAce - bonboneirries are a little gift that you give guests to thank them for coming! in our wedding its a huge things as DF is italian and its apparently a tradition... WOW i love the dress

Ah well nope we didn't have those...I know on the invites it said that the ceremony would be followed by a celebration so people knew not to expect an actual reception. It was like a party with finger food and a cake.
Oh and thanks...I love that dress too. Spent one morning shopping, found it on the rack, bought it and no one knew that I wasn't wearing white except my mum. The reactions when I walked in the room was awesome! I didn't want a traditional wedding dress.

What was your fave thing of the day?
That DH and I were getting married and doing it the way we wanted without all of the fuss and expense!!

What would you have changed if anything?
Probably would of worn my contact lenses instead of my glasses, I know its a minor thing.

Where did you get married? church? garden? registry office? eloped?
Little White Wedding Chapel Las Vegas Nevada USA

Did you have a wishing well or gift registry? or presents?
None of those. We did have a celebration in Australia later with friends and family and were given some cash and presents, although we didn't ask nor expect anything.

How many bridesmaids did you have? what dresses did they wear?
No bridesmaids, no hassles :)
What were your table centre pieces?
None, that stuff bores me to tears :D

Did you have a bonbonierrie? if so what was it?
N/a

What did you invites look like? did you make them or get them made?
We eloped so we didn't need them, but my parents organised our 'celebration' and tbh I have no idea what the invites looked like :o

Did you have a real or fake boquet? what flowers were they?
No flowers

Anything else you would like to add feel free or even add photos

We had a wonderful day, it was quite exciting, with limo transfers, getting fitted into our outfits, an outrageous southern Baptist preacher marrying us, a little lady who looked 100yrs old Rhoda who played the organ as I walked up the aisle, and it was broadcast on the internet and we got great photos, video and celebrated with a 5 course meal at the Stratosphere Hotel revolving restaurant. It was wild and so much fun and we have no regrets and my DD1 loves watching the video as its so funny!!

I love weddings!!! I'm still obsessed with them even though I have been married for over 3 years now....

What was your fave thing of the day?
That everyone we loved was there to be with us. We also loved surprising our guests with the location. We told them on the invite it was to be one place, and then we whisked them away on a boat cruise to a secret island location and got married on the beach! After that we had a huge seafood bbq feast in a Balinese Pavillion surrounded by Tiki torches and fairy lights.

What would you have changed if anything?
My dress - it was a bit of a disaster, unfortunatley....

Where did you get married? church? garden? registry office? eloped?
On a private beach on South Stradbroke Island, Qld.

Did you have a wishing well or gift registry? or presents?
We had a wishing well, made up to look like a mini bali hut to suit our tropical theme...

How many bridesmaids did you have? what dresses did they wear?
I had 4 tiny bridesmaids aged 8 to 14years old. They wore silk chiffon knee dresses in different shades of pink.

What were your table centre pieces?
Hurrican Lanterns with a candle, sand and cherry blossoms.

Did you have a bonbonierrie? if so what was it? We had 2 kinds - one was a beach themed gel candle with the guests names imbedded in the gel (it doubled as a placecard). We also gave out little brownies with our names and a photo of our look-alike cake-toppers printed on it in edible icing.

What did you invites look like? did you make them or get them made?
Our invites were calico-covered hard-cover booklets with a silk orchid on the front. I made them but got the insides professionally letterpress printed to give it that special touch.

Did you have a real or fake boquet? what flowers were they?
I had a bouquet made of latex cymbidium orchids in pink cream and green, plus berries and tropical folliage. I still have it now! I didn't use a single real flower anywhere the whole day and nobody knew any differently...

Anything else you would like to add feel free or even add photos
We had a wonderful day and night. I want to get married all over again.

What was your fave thing of the day?
after the ceremony and photos, the bridal party went up to our hotel room to chill out before the reception, was good to have that time to spend just with them.

What would you have changed if anything?
I would have told the waiters to bring out more food, some people had hardly any, some people had heaps.

Where did you get married? church? garden? registry office? eloped?
In the Botanic Gardens

Did you have a wishing well or gift registry? or presents?
gift registry, some people gave us money instead.

How many bridesmaids did you have? what dresses did they wear?
2, they wore kinda 50s cocktail type dresses which my mum made. I wanted the girls to feel not just comfortable with what they were wearing, but know they would wear them again.

What were your table centre pieces?
none, we had a cocktail reception, but they put battery operated flickering candles on the cocktail tables.

Did you have a bonbonierrie? if so what was it?
noodle boxes with funsize chocolates (freddos, cherry ripes etc) inside

What did you invites look like? did you make them or get them made?
i made them, they were were simple, 3rd of an A4 piece of cardboard, with silver paper in the middle, our names on one side with diamontes and the details on the other (hard to explain without showing them to you)

Did you have a real or fake boquet? what flowers were they?
I had real orchids

Anything else you would like to add feel free or even add photos
I'll add that you don't need to spend a butt load of money to have the day you want. Shop around, and try your hand at doing things yourself, I made my own veil for like $10, meanwhile my mate spent $300, and you couldn't tell the more expensive one.

What was your fave thing of the day?

the relaxed atmosphere, the mist in the air and dew on the ground, the wallabies bouncing around near us

What would you have changed if anything?

the guestlist!
all the friends we invited turned up drunk (or worse) and I missed some very true friends, purely by accident

Where did you get married? church? garden? registry office? eloped?

national park headquarters, the Gap, Brisbane... overlooking the dam and with eucalypts and wallabies around us

7.30am on a Sunday morning, in the crisp of an October day

Did you have a wishing well or gift registry? or presents?

we asked guests to pay for their meal ($20 a head) and bring no gifts... most people did just that

we went up to the restaurant (on site) immediately afterward for a buffet breakfast as the native birds sang around us and quiet jazz played over the speakers

How many bridesmaids did you have? what dresses did they wear?

none - no bridal party

What were your table centre pieces?

australian natives bouquets, made by my mother in law

Did you have a bonbonierrie? if so what was it?

nope

What did you invites look like? did you make them or get them made?

I made them myself, printed on handmade paper with gum leaves in it

Did you have a real or fake boquet? what flowers were they?

australian natives, again... lots of waratahs... way too much red in it, but hubby arranged it as a surprise to me, so I can't complain!

getting in our car & seeing them all in the revision mirror, closely followed by arriving at our honeymoon destination & being able to hear for ourselves, that no-ones guilt trips or b!tching were around us.

What would you have changed if anything?
hUh. besides eloping or not doing it at all?
not worrying about the rust circle left by the hairspray can on my dress & therefore not having my chubby arm trying to cover it up ALL wedding/reception, in almost EverY photo!

Did you have a real or fake boquet? what flowers were they?
fake - not into flowers really.. and wouldnt get them fresh 5.30am. found some great purple + blue gerbera's & babys breath, & redesigned/created them myself.

Anything else you would like to add feel free or even add photos

crock of cr@p.. do what you want. anyone who b!tches at you.. remind them who's day it is. & that you have to live with it for the rest of your life.

&
most important... you could have the best wedding day everything perfect as you wanted.. but
it means nothing to do with your marriage.
if we spent half the effort & $ on our marriages that we do on wedding days, families, society & children would be a lot happier!:footinmouth:

p.s. no i do not need therapy.. im over it. ..... truly:D

eta: i dont even look at the photos of our wedding. the only ones that i look at lovingly are hub & i on our honeymoon playing in bubbles in our spa bath.. the only genuine smiles of our whole 24hrs!
