She's been wetting the bed at least once per week, but now that it has got colder, it is more often than every other night.
She's getting sick of stripping the bed most mornings, and I'm not too fond of washing bedsheets most days. And her sister (age 10) whom she shares a room with isn't too happy with the lingering smell.
So tonight, I offerred her a large old-style magicall to try. I told her it wouldn't hold enough, but might catch a little. Her sister asked for a booster, so I included a microfibre booster and microfleece liner, so we'll see how that goes tonight.
She's gotten up to go to the toilet already, and is walking with a waddle. I'm thinking perhaps I need to get some proper ones for her, but what to use? I could perhaps try the toddler's large peapod on her for size. Perhaps she could get away with a large peapod also (though I would need to buy more). I think she is 21kg.

I'm amazed your 6 even let you put a nappy on her! My 6 year old son would look at me as if I was nuts if I offered a nappy as he wets the bed too.
My oldest son who is 7 was wetting the bed every night, sometimes more than once per night. I was in that dilemma too, not wanting to strip down the bed every night and the washing.
So I did a bit of research, and found this 'bedwetting program' at the bedwetting institute. The link can be found on the toilet training products directory, or you can google (or pm me).
I have put my son on the first part of the program (the program consists of 2 parts) - after 2 months, he is now wetting only 3-4 days a week (big improvement for him), I really should start the second part, but I will start that during school holidays.
I recommend you look into this as your long term solution.
Short-term, I bought a couple of pairs of big kids nappy pants from Issy Bear (the lady made me a custom one) and also an absorbent, waterproof mattrass protector from the bedwetting institute (I recommend getting 2), and also a waterproof doona protector. The nappy pants can be washed along with the baby's nappies, also the matrass protector if any leaks happen.
With the smell, I find that even without any leaks the room still smells, though probably somewhat better. I think big kids pee really smells a lot more than babies'. Eucalyptus spray is a godsend to freshen up the air.
Good luck. I know it's difficult, pm me if you want I can give you some more information.
haven't faced this one myself.. sorry if I'm not much help.
The first thing that sprang to mind was to get some cloth pads perhaps. There are all sorts of shapes and sizes, even ones for incontinence. I make them for me and DD and they are very very easy to make. You can boost them heaps to get the absorbency right up and back them with PUL. Maybe she'd be happier wearing those until the phase passes?
good luck to you both :hugs:

Check out the training pants at darlings downunder.
The starbunz ones are GREAT (we would boost with a bamboo GK hourglass and mini-booster) but a bit on the small size, so don't think they'd fit.
The happy heiny training pants are heaps bigger, but don't sit as nicely as the starbunz. They are just a pocket, so you could stuff it with whatever you need to. I find the GK hourglass the best ones, with a microfibre booster too.

Eenees has incontinence products for kids and adults (as well as nappies). They look like proper undies but hold a pad in there to catch the wee. Might be worth a look as they are properly designed for kids

Thanks for the ideas, I'll have to check those options out.
As for current progress, last night she was dry, and received lots of praise for it. Then later this morning she asked if she could wear it again tonight. (She really doesnt like waking up covered in pee.)
FYI: She wears a disposable DryNites on Friday nights when she stays at her fathers place, and I'll be sending some along for her Girls Brigade camp this weekend.
If you are handy with a sewing machine you could also try reinforcing her knickers with some bamboo fleece (and a stay dry layer if she prefers it) and maybe even some PUL. That way they would look just like her regular knickers but still keep her dry at night.
I know one of the places on WAHM naps does something similar, though i don't think they use PUL or microfleece/suedecloth to stop leaks.
