when to send invites?

Ok so a little background info..i am getting married in Oct this year (so not too long :yelclap:)

However i was wondering when i should send out the invites? how long before the wedding? i have heard sooo many different things that I just dont know when to do it! most people will be travelling a minimum of 2 hrs plus the others who are flying from QLD or USA!

So any advice would be greatly appreciated :thumbsup:

Well I have family in France and my DF has family in England andacross Australia, so we're sending save the dates to everyone 6 months in advance so they can arrange flights and that sort of thing.

With the invites, I think we will arrange for them to arrive a month before the actual wedding, keeping in mind everyone has been informed 5 months prior and the extra postage time it may take OS - so probably send the international invites 2 -3 weeks earlier.

I'm not sure on it all either, but I think 1 month is enough that it's still on their mind and not too far in advance and a good balance.

I think we got ours out just in time for people to RSVP! :laughing: But everyone knew the date we were getting married so it wa sjust the formal invite. DH's father flew over from Spain and he had 4 months notice (from when we got engaged to the wedding). We were late on sending out our invites though!

I think the save the dates are a great idea. I looked up the ettiquette book and also had a book that gave you general timelines and it told me 2 months beforehand so I did this.

we havent sent off or go save the date cards :( so i might have to send the invites a little earlier just to make sure :)
